Maximizing Motions Performance

Maximizing Motions Performance

Wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions for maximizing Motion's performance other than buying a new video card or adding RAM. I am running 2.3 GHz, 256 MB VRAM, and 2 GB's of RAM. I read disabling the dashboard, using a solid color on the desktop, etc... enhances the computers performance (guessing these changes have very little impact on Motions overall performance). Any other ideas? Thanks.

Which video card do you have with 256MB Vram? Motion is really RAM hungry. If the video card is a pretty kick -ass model then more RAM is your only other answer.

Well, there's a simple tip that might help.
It seems Motion's RT performance gets better in some cases when it doesn't have to show the selected object's control elements (handles, lines, paths, etc). You can accomplish this by deselecting the object (Command - Shift - A) or temporarily turning off overlays completely (Command - Slash).
