Not common to expect Motion to "crash" -- "quit"??

Motion will slow way down and even stutter when the output exceeds the computer, but you have a different problem.

What is your computer? What is your video card? What is your RAM load?

All these things matter greatly.

I have a a PowermacPC G5, quad (4 x 2.5Ghz) with 4.5GB DDR2 SDRAM. My scratch disk is a 250GB Lacie harddrive with 28GB remaining.

I have the same setup except for internal RAID discs and Motion works GREAT!

Must be the software setup! Might try reimoving Completey and reinstalling Motion. I have done this before to correct a problem.

First try freeing up more than 28 GB of that 250 GB scratch disc. MacOS X soesn't llike ANY disk to be more than about 80% full.

Your Scratch Disk is too full. LaCie's are notoriously slow when they pass half capacity as they get full. Rule of thumb...NEVER go above 80% full.

When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.

it's funny but the "reinstall" suggestion is exactly what they
say in "PC World" when 3ds Max is misbehaving...

so maybe PCS and Macs have more in common than different!John Foley wrote:
