Is there a way to simulate an "earthquake" type of movement in motion?

Sure. You can use the paramter behavior called Wriggle, for instance.
A parameter behavior is one that affects a specific property (parameter!) instead of a whole object, like simulation and basic behaviors do.
You want to apply the Wriggle behavior, then, to the object's position property.

Select your object. Go to the properties tab in the Inspector window. Point to the word Position itself and right click (control click for one button mouses). A list of parameter behaviors will appear in the contextual menu. Select Wriggle. It produces this kind of nervous, earthquake motion.

Frequency is how often the shakes are produced. Amount is what is says: how big the shakes are. Noisiness is key to Wriggle. It controls the complexity or nervousness of the behavior.
Use Start offset and End offset to limit its' influence to a specific time range.

Or, just use the Earthquake filter!

Wow. I never paid attention to that smiling smiley
Much easier.
Still, Wriggle is cool!

I agree, parameter behaviors in general are WAY cool
