Motion - Animating Photoshop Layers in Z-Space (Movie) - by Mark SpencerPosted by mark@avolution
Please note that if you bring in a multi-layered photoshop file from
either PC based Photoshop 5.5 or CS1, the apple-dolly will not automatically scale the layer as it pulls away or towards the camera. As we do not have photoshop on the Mac ,this has been a disappointment; as the effect clearly works in the video tutorial; and it is also clear that Photoshop is the Mac version. I wonder why Motion doesn't like these files?
Are you sure? Did you watch my follow-up tutorial that includes a couple of extra tips? :

Wondering if this is the problem I am having although my PS files are from a Mac and even from Motion 3 fast forward. If I try to hold down the command key and move the layer back in Z it does not scale is this why or am I missing something?

According to the redux tutorial; the resolution of the PS file must equal the
res that you set as the default. ie 720x486 PS for a 720x486 Motion file. Believe me; this DOES make a difference.
