How to change color of JPG's in Motion?

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know how to change the color of the background on a scanned JPG line drawing inside of Motion. I am attempting to change the color of the background on a line drawing after importing it into Motion. I have been able to do it in a different application (line remains black); however, it would be much more efficient if I can change the "paper" color inside of Motion while animating.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried the Colorize filter or the HSV filter? Or a colored shape with a blend mode? Many ways to accomplish this.
