OT: Math - Calculating Anchor CenterPosted by J.Corbett
Is the center point of a cube equal to the distance from shape center to its right or left edge.?
so if center to right side is 200 points then to make a cube the anchor point must be off set by 200. This would allow for y or z to be move to create a cube. It depends on what the color of the cube is, and what you plan to do inside the cube...

i am using 6 video layers to create a cube. then i am gonna have the cube tumble like dice to fill the screen.
i can use any color as each clip will have a black boarder. Nothing goes inside the cube. """ What you do with what you have, is more important than what you could do, with what you don't have." > > > Knowledge + Action = Wisdom - J. Corbett 1992 """"

Mark Spencer does a great job on this DVD explaining how to make cubes in Motion. There is a TON of other great stuff on working in 3 space there as well. -Vance
that the tutorial that i saw. but he gives a value (+/- 283 i think it was) to change the anchor point and doesn't explain where the value came from.
Thats the part i didn't get. """ What you do with what you have, is more important than what you could do, with what you don't have." > > > Knowledge + Action = Wisdom - J. Corbett 1992 """"
I agree that AE might be better for this but i am still raw green in that app. I can probably do it but i am still learning how to remember to turn on overlays for the 3d.
My next project i plan on using AE over motion3 so that i can get into using that as well as i can use motion. Thanks for the math VPiccin. Well, for doing REAL 3D, you need a real 3D app like
3ds Max, or Maya (both owned by Autodesk) 3ds Max for PC OR BootCamp Maya Mac only J.Corbett Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I agree that AE might be better for this but i am > still raw green in that app. I can probably do it > but i am still learning how to remember to turn on > overlays for the 3d. > My next project i plan on using AE over motion3 so > that i can get into using that as well as i can > use motion. > > Thanks for the math VPiccin.
