Creating a glowing light streak in 3D space

I'm trying to create a glowing light streak, much like TNT is using to decorate their current branding.

Anyone know a good tutorial that will fly one of those through 3D space? i've got the basics of the stroke and the glowing light shape figured out, but there's got to be easier ways to blow it through 3D space than the laborious point-by-point method I'm currently trying.

Tips? Tricks? Or just suck it up and plot it manually?

Motion 3D Deep Dive from ripple training. This tutorial has a lot of great tips and instruction. Basically make a path. Add a camera, this will make the project 3D then add some extra points on the path. Use the top view to move these points in 3D space (Z space.) You can add a light attribute to the path. I've also used a particle emitter (like magic wand) with a motion path behavior and moved the motion path into 3D space in the same way.

Hope this helps. The ripple training tutorial was worth every penny.
