Motion text looks like dog when brought into FCP
January 21, 2010 10:26AM
I am just starting production on 1080p30 XDCAM footage and I have started creating
the Motion text keys.

At present the default mtn is set to XDCAM 1080p30 preset and in Motion the text looks clean
and sharp, but when I save the Motion (and my defaults are for best quality, 100%, etc)
In FCP the render settings are set to best as well, but the rendered text is all aliased around the
edges.

Motion settings
width 1920
height 1080
8 bit square no fields
Full res, view 100%, view Best, no fields
30p

FCP settings
Sequence XDCAM 1080p30
Render Control 100%, 100%, Best, Render Movie Best Quality.

Whether I set codec to XDCAM or ProRes HQ, the text is still jagged.

please advise

SOLVED-Even though I had set Motion to progressive and FCP to progressive, FCP brought
the Mtn file in as upper field-I manually set to NONE and voila-fixed.

Add this to the FAQ if you wish....

Thanks for posting your solution - seems to be an ongoing issue where certain flags (field order/dominance, anamorphic) get lost between Motion and FCP...
