Question RE: How to create a hold out matte in Motion
October 15, 2010 09:33AM
Hi Motion Forum - Long time FCP user and fairly new to Motion but enjoying it. Here's what I'm trying to do or find out how to do. I have a shot (static) with a sign in the background of the shot (think a sign on a building with business name and logo). I need to create a matte that will block out the existing sign and let me put in a new artwork logo/name. Creating the artwork I will do elsewhere and import in. What I am not sure how to do is make an accurate matte. Can someone explain how this done or link me to a tutorial that can help me? Is this even something that can be done in Motion or do I need a different program? (I do not have After Effects.) Thanks in advance for your replies.

Best thing would be to look up Match Moving in the Motion help - it describes how to do this.
