Bloody question

Greetings all and Happy Canada Day!

Trying to make an effect and i don't know where to post it - so I started here. (This is for the DVD menu page)

Imagine a still photo CU headshot - grayscale - a flash of light and then a small thin line appears on the neck followed by a sloooow moving trickle of red.
Obviously the headshot and flash of light is easy, but how do I build the blood? Is that a Motion job? photoshop AE
Once I have the blood, do I sandwich it between 2 tracks of the head. Top track cropped to cut line and let the bood flow over the lower track??

How about this. Angle a black board about 45 degrees and set a camera to shoot it straight on. Run some thick white fluid, say white latex paint, down the board from a turkey baster. Try to expose so that there is some texture to the paint, highlights and darker areas.

Key that over your shot and colorize as needed.

Actually, I was thinking in terms of a vector graphic of some sort, but I like your idea better!
