Using IPhone for recording

I'm producing a podcast using Soundtrack. We have reporters who wish to file stories using recordings made on their iPhones. Quality is good but we are looking for a decent mics to use with the iPhones. Plosives and over modulation are the problems we have with the stock plug-in cheapos.

Any pro mic alternative for the iPhone?

i wouldn't

but if you do get REALLY good mics. the iphone takes a 1/8th plug and i am not sure if iphone has phantom power.
