Analyzing noise for removal

i have about 2hrs of home movies to edit and honestly there is some nice footage there. however there is a lot of background noise. i have parts of the audio that i can isolate the majority of the noises.
i have tried to use the denoiser but it removes a lot of high mid and highs from the over all recording. i have read some things online that say that i can get soundtrack pro to analyze a portion of the audio and then remove/reduce it from the over all recording.

i need a workflow for using soundtrack to remove noise by analyzing audio.

It's very easy. Just look under effects, you'll see an item that says "set noise print". Just pick part of the audio that's nothing but the noise you want to get rid of, then hit that option, then click reduce noise. A helpful hint-leave some of the noise in the mix with the percentage slider to keep the audio from sounding too much like it was recorded underwater.
