SP with Firepod & ADVC-100

So I'm new to SP & I've discovered something interesting. When I connect a Firepod to my MacBook Pro via FW400, then connect the Firepod to a firewire 400 drive, everything is fine. I can record audio, and I can simultaneously play back audio I've already recorded. But when I connect my Canopus ADVC-100 to the chain and conect a monitor so I can simultaneously view QT picture off the SP timeline, I can no longer hear audio coming out of Soundtrack Pro. I can still record audio, though. I've tried using the MBP's FW800 (using a 9 pin to 6 pin cable) into the Canopus, & no luck either. Is this a known bug or am I missing a preference setting or something. Any tricks or alternate routes to get this done? Thanks!
