does anyone know how to remove vocals out of a song?

Is there any way in Soundtrack pro 2 to remove vocals out of a song, so only the beats remain?

That question has been asked for years with no concise answer. Once there was a hardware box that could mesh the L-R audio tracks into one and IF the recordist moved the performer into exactly the middle of both tracks it could remove most of the voice, but it never really worked well enough to become commercially accepted.

Generally, there are a few audio situations that can NOT be repaired in post. Echo on a track can not be removed. Audio recorded a long way off can not be brought to the front. Removing something that has multiple frequencies with an EQ is tough and almost always effects other sounds as well.

I am hoping that someday, vocal removal will be a reality, but not today.
