BITRATE CHANGES RUNNING A SOUNDTRACK PRO 2 APPLESCRIPT

hi ... i am exporting files with 16 bit audio from fcp, and i have an applescript that i designed in soundtrack so all my co editors can use it.. problem is everything i run through the script gets converted into 32 bit files.. this is unacceptable for our delivery system.. i have my soundtrack prefs set to export at 16 bit so i don't know what else there is to do.. i'm using the tascam fw 1082 as my audio playback device, but nothing makes me think that is the problem.. please help.
