Using Multi Track and Audio File

Hi,

I have a project in FC that I would like to send to Soundtrack to:

1) remove humming background noise
2) Adjust levels throughout timeline
3) Add some additional audience laughter and applause

What is the easiest process for this?

I thought I could just send the entire timeline to a Multitrack project and then double click to open as a Audio File to fix the hum - but won't that create a separate AF project? Will the repaired audio update in the Multitrack project?

OR -- do I send to ST as an AF first, repair the audio, update in FC, THEN send the whole thing back as a MultiTrack to add effects and mix?

Also, whenever I send a single clip to ST as an AF to repair, it sends the entire source clip of course, and it's really hard for me to figure out what part of that entire load is the portion of my clip that I want to fix. I've tried setting markers on the clip in FC at the in and out points thinking the markers would show up in Soundtrack so I can see where I'm at, but they don't. So I've been loading the audio into the source monitor in FC and writing down the time code at the in and out. Then once I'm in ST I can find where my section is by navigating to the time codes. Surely there is a more efficient way?
