Sound track pro vs soundforge

I have a buddy who has done sound work in soundforge and won't use STP while editing footage because he says its not as robust as soundforge. I have found STP to work just fine. Has anyone else used both and do you have any thoughts about one over another.

Its more of a curiosity thing with me and an attempt to understand more.
