1. the US 428 only send BASIC MIDI control NOT Mackie Control Protocal which is what FCP 5 and STP use
2. the Mackie control universal is the best and uses a MIDI interface. Tascam makes 3 control surfaces that use MCP as well the 1082 1884 and 2400 with the 1082 and 1884 both being audio interfaces as well as control surfaces (the MCU and 2400 are control only)
3. should be able to

it won't
that is a virtual instrument which is usable in programs like Garageband, Logic Express, or Logic Pro

BTW it will now work as DIGI has released the PT LE 6.9.2 update for Tiger

the trouble with using GB 2 (and it is only a small problem) is that you need to mute each track and bounce seperate files to get seperate AIFF's
also you can you only record at 16bit 44.1Khz and STP can handle 24 bit 96Khz (sorta like DV VS 8 bit UC in video)

no you can't record multiple tracks at the same time
yes you would need Logic express to record 8 tracks (or Garageband 2)

ya the 002R is like a Motu 828 (which is what I should have gotten but since I knew PT I went with the 002R GRRRR)

it should be able to one Digi updates there Core audio driver (I am waiting on Digi as well, my 002R is collecting some dust on it GRRRRR)
BTW John the 002R is a rack mountable FW audio interface not a control surface
the 002 console (the model with faders) can't be used to control STP (or most other programs) as Digi locks it into working only with their programs

I asked at Sound Ideas about it a while ago (the effect is from the Wild World of Animals set from SI) as I used that effect (which is listed as a Cat Meow on the CD) as it SORTA sounds like (to the producers at least) a small dog or a REALLY deep cat (hey to me it sounds like a cat, well at least my cat sounds like that) and yes it was a cat they recorded for the sound so. . .

Space Designer is a convolution reverb plugin that uses impluse responses (IR's) to emulate the REVERB of some locations like the interior of cars, buildings, or even outside locations
you can take a plain sounding ADR recording and emulate the reverb of where it was supposed to sound like it was
there should 5211 loops with STP
they should be in Tiger:Library:audio:Apple loops:apple loops
by David Slater
- Soundtrack Pro
they should be indexed automatically when you install them
go to the media browser in STP and select the seach tab
then change it from insturement to sound effects
they should be there
the Impluse Responses are IR profiles for the Space Desginer plugin
these are profile for how a room reverbs
VERY COOL STUFF
you don't use them as audio files but they load into the SD plugin
by David Slater

go to <;
and DL all the IR's (impluse responses)
after you have uncompressed them just copy the folders you get into the directory ~>library>application support>Soundtrack Pro>impulse responses

I asked the Moderators on the Apple site to get a clarification from the developers on it
everyone who went to NAB that I have talked to says it is a SINGLE STEREO TRACK record (suitable for Voice-over or ADR)
I will post back when there is a clarifaction posted
by David Slater
- Soundtrack Pro
nobody has it yet or if they do they can't say
BUT
From what I have heard from 2 sources who were at NAB STP can record a single stereo track (sutable for Voice overs) just like ST

you would need to use a program like Waveburner (inlcuded with Logic), Roxie Toast with Jam, or Peak
any of these programs can create RED BOOK audio cd's
if you don't need it to be RED BOOK compliant then just use iTunes to burn your CD and just make each song a track so you can skip

from what I have heard from someone who went to NAB it is a single stereo track record (which is what MOST video editors need for recording Voice Over)
if you need to record multiple inputs at once on discret tracks you would need to use Garageband, Logic express, or Logic Pro

the MCU has the best support for the Mackie Control Protocol (it is a Makcie product after all) as well as being the most expanadable and very affordable
PLUS you can then chose a better audio interface then the one that comes with the Tascam or Yamaha mixers)

as it gets closer there might be a clarification but from the specs sheets it looks like it needs FCP 5 for exporting directly to STP (you could just export AIFF's and then inport those into STP)
(also Tiger gives ya a VERY COOL AU Pitch plugin (there are other cools things with Tiger as well)

Hey Guys (and Gals)
I know a couple of people (who have asked me not to mention who they
are at this point) that are working on some motion templates and asked me to run this poll so they have an idea as how many people are interested in
buying them and how much they are willing to pay
the poll is on the main page of my site <; if you could please fill out the poll that would be v

you can't run the 256 MB card on the G4
get the 128 MB card and max your ram
with a 9800 128MB and maxed ram in your system it should be equal to or better then some G5's running stock video cards (my system flys with Motion dual 1.25 2GB ram 9800 128MB OS 10.4.1 Motion 2 (but Motion 1 was just as good))

STP and FCP 5 use MCP
Motion 2 uses any MIDI controller like a keyboard (or a control surface like use you in STP and FCP 5)

I installed Motion 1 on my Tiger drive while I was waiting for FCS to come in and it worked great
ALL PRO APPS SHOULD BE INSTLLED FRESH NOT moved over
the trouble with removing everthing list at <; is a new version of ProKit.framework seems to now be installed with Tiger (A newer version ships in Tiger and probably shouldn't be removed.)
it would be best to reinstall Tiger (to

well what video card?
that is a HUGE component of Motion
A g5 with a 5200 video card (or even a 9600) will be slower then a G4 with a 9800
if you can get a better video card in the 1.6 I would go with that
GET THE BEST CARD YOU CAN

the X800 from ATI is the best I think
then the 6800's from nVidia
then the 9800's from ATI
the 9600's from ATI and the 5200's from nVidia are at the bottom
atleast thats what I think
