I haven't had any major problem's with B and H
altho when I deal with them I go to the store
the only real problem I had (aside from finding a helpful sales rep, man they have some pushy ignoramuses) was they messed up the size of the LCD shade that came free with the camera bag and wanted a 25% restocking fee off the regular price of it to exchange it.
because it was DVEXPO time (hence why we

do not use the settings you created in compressor 1 in compressor 2 they will not be good
you should use one of the stock compression options or create a new setting IN compressor 2

Hey John in the FAQ question thread you said
"This mode is unstable and will be destroyed when updating or upgrading the OS."
in refering to using the software raid function native to OSX.
what do you mean by that?
could you explain it a little more
I am currently using a burly box (5 bay with 500 GB each SATA) using PM/eSata connection raided as raid 0
using 10.4.6

yes it is FW 800 but you can use a FW 800 to 400 cable
as well you also then get FW 800 ports if you need them
here is another one that is FW 400

the 35 mb format will NOT be supported with the upcoming release even tho it is a better format (doesn't fall apart on pans and zooms like HDV does (the 25 mb signal)
what I do as we are shooting in 23.98 and 35 mb signal is just go HD SDI
looks AMAZING works fine

I got 2x5 bay SATA towers burly boxes
already had one controller card fail and my sonet card for my G5 was DOA
am not trilled about the controller card as I had to break my raid apart, down to half speed (was getting 300 MB's) and only have 2.3 TB to work with now
take it for what you will

Nope they don't suck
I have 14 or so
all D2's
longest one I have had is almost 4 years old at this point
I have:
1x80
2x120
1x160
10x320
(also have a 48X CD burner and a 16X DVD+-DL LS both in D2 cases)
they have been lugged downtown in a backpack
dropped on the floor (some hardwood, mainly concrete)
they 320's have been run for over 48 hours straight in the past with rendering and outputs

the only drive I have ever had any problems with was using a Promax case(there was a bad chip or something, had to get the case replaced)

one draw back about the Sony and Apple "solution" is that it is only for the 25 mb signal (basically HDV) not the better 35 mb signal
what I am doing with the feature I am working on is going in with HD SDI to either photo JPG 75% or uncompressed 8bit HD
