you could also have seen from the Apple page
What products qualify for the Final Cut Studio upgrade?
You may upgrade to Final Cut Studio from the retail version of either Final Cut Pro or Production Suite. Upgrade from any version of Final Cut Pro to Final Cut Studio for $699. If you already own Production Suite, you can upgrade to Final Cut Studio for $499.

Thanks man
it has been fun setting it up
you should see how many emails I get asking when I am going to add a forum to the page or how many people post questions to the tip submission option thinking it is a "normal" question site

havn't used the XL2 much but I still would use my LCD
I really like the size (I find the PDx10 LCD the smallest I like) and movablity of it (have had it over 50' away using Svideo feed and LanC control)

I have a Nebtek 5" Monitor with a Canon battery mount
<;
I have a manfrotto mount to attach it to the shoe mount on the XL1s. works great, the smallest battery for the XL powers the LCD for longer then a CH910 with 2 of the biggest ones on it
I use it when I tripod or steadycam (and sometimes when I shoulder mount it as well just turn down the viewfinder)
and when I jib my PDx1

you are sorta right Shane
Jamie
you still have a 720x480 image but it has a pixel aspect ratio of 1.2 rather then 0.9
this is SIMILAR to shooting 960x480 but not the same (but NOT bad)
this is the best way to get widescreen you are captuing a wider image rather then cropping top and bottom which is how many cheaper cameras do it (and how applying a matte in post)

1.5 hours of DVCPRO 50 (NOT HD) would be about 40 GB (a little under that really)

Just wait untill SHDTV (twice as wide and high as regular HDTV) and UHTV (twice as wide and high as SHDTV), which are being developed in Japan right now, (yes there are cameras apparently) become standard.

try this
Launch Terminal (Application>Utilities>Terminal) and type this:
sudo /Library/StartupItems/Qmaster/Qmaster
Then hit return, then enter your administrative password. Then you should get a message about Qmaster services starting up.
Re-launch Compressor,
worked for me in Compressor 2 and many people have said it worked for them in C1

I don't if it can handle 100 but iChat can do fairly good sized chats
what is the goal of the chat? tech support? generally chit chat?
too many people an very little will get done as you lose track of what is asked and answered
BTW I am davidmoviesrock (AIM) on iCHAT

as Tom pointed out QT pro player does NOTHING to FCP (and yes QT 7 does work with FCP HD in Tiger, I installed Tiger and FCP HD on a drive and it worked without any problems)
Part of the reason for having to pay for the PRO features is that Apple has to pay licensing fees for all the codecs it unlocks and it is a TOTALLY new version not an upgrade

I have a HHB porta disk field recorder but I don't record into FCP I record into PTLE using the optical outputs
there is software with the HBB that allows you to copy to a Mac but I find it easy to just record it into it
you should be able to record into FCP using a audio input device using OPTICAL or S'pidf

ya well I wiped my origonal Jaguar drive (can't belive I still had that around) and installed Tiger fresh on that
I still need to keep Panther around as DIGI is taking 8-10 weeks to come out with an update for ProTools (even the DAE isn't working in Tiger)
BUT everything is running smooth on Tiger (cept for the Qmaster security warning but that is just clicking on fix later when I reboot which i
