Hate to sound like a broken record but... over on Reduser there is a thread about open source tools for creating DCP. It's not easy and it requires being comfortable with command line interfaces but people over there have done it.
The standards and file formats for DCP are all open, the companies making the software were charging for the not inconsequential service of dealing with all the form

I actually inherited the project with all the disks imported. The assistant couldn't figure out how to rename the clips on the disk or even assign proper reel names. There were something like 20 clips all called C0001. ugh! I got all the disks back from storage and set about renaming the imported clips (easy) and then trying to rename the clips on the disks to match them. That was going to be fas

I have a project with almost 45 XDCAM HD disks, mostly the 50GB ones.
Variety of DOPs, none of whom named their clips other than the default C000X.
I can rename the clips in the XDCAM Transfer app, but there are tons of them. Is there a way to bulk rename the clips, before import?
I need a simple naming system so that the sequences and clip names make some sense other than millions of C0001 o

If it's like any other 5D chopper footage I have seen it's not just stabilization you'll have to deal with. It will also be rolling shutter artefacts, a.k.a. JelloCam. Not a lot of filters can remove that, although there are some techniques for removing them in AfterEffects.

On a properly functioning system, Batch Monitor is exactly that, a monitor. It just shows you what's happening and initiates no actions. Your process will crank away whether Batch Monitor is open or not. Sometimes if you try to kill processes from Batch Monitor it will incompletely shut them down and you have to resort to clearing out the temp folders and a bunch of other fiddly stuff so Digital

I noticed that when trying to track down the Multicam project bloat issue. There were different behaviours and results with copy/paste vs. Drag/drop. Never tracked it down other than it always had to do with Multicam projects, at least in my experience.

The most important thing to remember with UNITY was that Media Composer had all the hooks built in to work with UNITY. It's not a special version of MC on UNITY. Your bins get a lock icon in the bottom left corner and that's almost it. Whoever opens a bin first has write access everyone after is read only. Very simple.
UNITY isn't cheap and some rental houses were able to roll their own versions

They never used Xserves or any of the other Apple rendering products. I think the credits for Incredibles mentions HP render stations and tons of other non Apple tech.
They use what's best for a wide, networked workplace (Lasseter's iPad based shot approval system that he uses on the commute to work is pretty cool). Apple never got FCP Server into wide use, and AVIDs Unity, can link plenty of se

No, I am going to release some snakes. Not saying where or when, but keep an eye out.
I've been getting them ready by undermining their confidence and teaching them to make selfish decisions on the spur of the moment. Not just pythons either. Asps, rattlers, 'condas, tree snakes. A whole bunch of them.
And they know how to use Compressor as well. So after they get you, we won't know right away

Are they one take/clip per sequence?
You can link the video to the audio in the timeline and then drag the clip into the browser. The new clip will have the synced audio attached nd will load into the viewer as expected.
You know there is a way to edit from sequences where you use the insert/overwrite method? Look in the KB shortcuts window for "insert sequence content".

Quote wonder how Mr Pogue would respond if Apple suddenly declared the QWERTY keyboard obsolete?
Well he would probably be OK with it. Because he's been writing about voice dictation software for years. He has a condition in his hands that makes it near impossible to type, and I believe it's not unrelated to why his career as a musician ended. He maintained a PC for years due solely to the fact

But blowing gaskets is what everyone has wanted to do since the Supermeet.
Do you know what happens to a gasket blowing deferred?
It dries up like a raisin in the sun.
A raisin made out of that gunk that accumulates around the white slidey ring on the super mouse.

Not to mention that multicam in FCP has always been a little buggy. Bloating project sizes and such. I would hope that a rewrite would address some of those issues.

For people who have problems with DFTC, do you understand leap years? Does Feb 29 blow your mind every four years?
I think there is no DFTC@23.976 because DFTC@29.97 is really only needed for broadcast scenarios and no one is really planning on broadcasting 23.976 there's no real demand for it.
I for one would

For problematic multiclips I find it helpful to build a sequence with tracks stacked and synced just to eliminate the possibility of there being something wrong with the clips. Turning TC display on in the Canvas can help too, although if you're syncing by In/clap and not TC that won't be as much of a help.
Can't say I've seen that particular problem before though. That's a weird one.

Ridiculously cheaper than the Apple BTO kind.

If you're expecting to build a relationship with someone based on what they think about your career choice, you are welcome to the kind of world you live in.
Maybe it's not that you said you were an editor, it how you said you were an editor. Sell it. The best non-sensical response to "so you take stuff out" is a pretentious "Yes that is quite true but, as I learned from my edit

I know this question has come up here before and there are projects floating around with similar solutions. I thought I would put this here as it's a fairly simple explanation of how to do it.
It's from the RedUser board, Michael Romano specifically, a simple recipe for doing smooth credit rolls in AE.
It assumes you have the credit roll as one Illustrator or Photoshop text file as a layer in A

s anyone heard, or can anyone predict, how FCP-X will handle video fields?
To answer your question though, if there are people out there that have heard, they can't answer due to NDF agreements with Apple. No one can make any kind of useful prediction because other than the people under NDFs the only look anyone has had was at the SuperMeet.
Apparently judging from the hyperbol

Apple doesn't mention future plans or even issue reassurances and the gap from fcp7 to FCPX was large. Made it feel like it wasn't important. Apple is becoming a consumer only company. I wouldn't be surprised to see the towers phased out.
Adobe doesn't make cool consumer products. they make software. They are also after the FCP market. I can kinda see Masters Suite or Producti

You don't. Every separate clip will get it's own angle. That's how multicam works. You could not have reference files and just use actual rendered clips but you'll be doubling up your media storage requirement.
If the reference file method works for you, why are you not doing that?
Of course the proper way to do a multicam project is to have properly shot footage where everyone rolls and cu
