The best way is to not export at all. Just import the Motion project itself into DVDSP and apply it as a menu. And if you want to make a change, right-click on it in the Assets tab and choose Open in Editor. Motion opens, and any changes you make are automatically updated in DVDSP. Just like embedding Motion projects in Final Cut Pro.
You might want to check applemotion.net and look around for

David,
A dropzone is just a graphic. So you are just replacing the graphic with your movie - it's just as if you had added a movie to your project. So you would trim it in the normal manner: in the mini-Timeline, trim the head to where you want, then drag back to the start (there IS a way to ripple-delete like FCP but this is easier).

No - it doesn't work that way. But if you add the Motion project to DVDSP and apply it as a menu, you can use the Open in Editor command (right-click it in the Assets tab) to open the project in Motion and add content to your drop zones there.

Have you tried the Colorize filter or the HSV filter? Or a colored shape with a blend mode? Many ways to accomplish this.

That's the way it's supposed to work - the active window closes. You can click on the other window to make it active or press Command-~ to toggle among windows (and projects if you have more than one open)

Probably a graphics card issue. You should scale down the source image before bringing it into FCP. You can do so in Preview.

In FCP, with the sequence selected, go to Sequence > Settings, then to the Render Control tab and make sure you rendering Motion projects at best quality. However, I suspect it's the blur filter that is expanding beyond the limit of your graphics card. You could try turning it off to test. If that proves to be the case, turn it back on, and try flattening the group containing the text, then se

Hard to say without seeing your project. You might be hitting your graphics card limit. Are you rendering at best quality? Do you have filters applied to your text layers?

If the Utility window is gone, you need to trash your preferences to get it back.
1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it.

Motion > Commands > Customize will show you all the keyboard shortcuts available for manipulating objects and cameras in 3D. However, to pan, orbit, or dolly the camera you'll have to use the 3D view tools (top right of the Canvas, the on-screen controls (if you have the Adjust 3D Transform Tool selected), or the HUD.

Have you tried setting the field dominance to "None" in Motion? (Edit > Project Properties)

Larry's a good guy in my book - for another option, I did a tutorial that takes you through a complete project - designed for After Effects users, but great for just about anyone:

I found it in a google search and it certainly looks like it was made completely in Motion - I see a lot of the Library elements employed.

Thank you for posting your solution - so it seems it had to do with combining FCP's scaling with sending to Motion.

Sorry to misinterpret, Joey!!!

Rather harsh response. Yes, running two monitors will cut your RAM in half - and yes, it will affect Motion's performance. This is true no matter what card you have.

You use the HUD (Heads Up Display) or the Inspector.
Lots of free tutorials to get you started here:

I am biased, but you already have Motion, it's well integrated with FCP, is easier to learn, and has a huge library of content. You can get a bunch of free tips at my site applemotion.net to get started.

ProRes was released after the most recent version of Motion. But just choose Custom and create your own preset.

Honestly, I'd do this in AE. You will have an easier time of it.

It's the graphics card - the best card right now for a Mac Pro is this one:

It is true that some video cards support up to 8K resolution.

That's the problem - try re-exporting the clip from QT pro, keyframing every frame.

Why is it 10fps? Is that correct? What's the source of the video?

Nope. You are still looking in Final Cut Pro. It's in Motion.

It's in Motion - under the View button at the top right of the Canvas. For sure in M3, I believe it's in M2 as well.

Is "Correct for Aspect Ratio" under the View pop-up menu checked?
