For mixing formats, Premiere and FCPX are king. But when everything is in the same low-complexity codec like ProRes or DNxHD, Avid is better IMO (or FCP 7 but I'm trying to avoid starting new

I mainly work on features and I can't really see any choice other than Avid right now. The main selling points of FCPX and Premiere (no rendering, AE / Motion integration, mix and match media) are things that I wouldn't need in my workflow and the main disadvantages (longer export times, unstable with long timelines, harder to get data into other apps) are deal-breakers.

They had a KickStarter campaign to bring it to Mac a few months ago and now it's out? That was quick!

I had some unauthorized transactions once and it then took the bank weeks to reach a conclusion but luckily they'd given me the benefit of the doubt and credited it back immediately.

Yep, the US has this too. I don't know if it's mandatory or voluntary but most major banks and credit card providers do it.

If your credit card details have been compromised, you may not necessarily know immediately. It may be lying dormant in a database for some time before someone tries to use it. But nowadays most card providers will credit back all unauthorized transactions, which is why it's better to use a credit card because then it's the bank's money that gets lost in the interim, not yours.

Did your email say definitively that you were part of the group whose details were compromised? My email said I may have been but didn't say for sure either way.

Nothing video related as far as I'm aware, but they recently released MC 7.0.2.

Most of the colorists I've worked with want the VFX on the ungraded media so they're not constrained later on if regrades or tweaks are needed.

Right, but I think it's interesting if Apple is prepared to make a loss on FCPX despite killing lots of pro products in recent years.

I'll be interested to see what Apple's long-term strategy is with FCPX. Will they have free updates forever, will they have upgrade pricing or will they just release a separate app that everyone has to pay full price for again? I'm curious as to whether or not FCPX development breaks even.

I don't think Adobe's marketing makes it clear that the lowest prices require a commitment. I know lots of people who misunderstood it.

Yes, the issue for me isn't the fact that the EOL-ed it (as you say, it was inevitable) but rather the lack of explanation on how EOL-ed software fits long-term into the new licensing model.

It's not a "sky is falling" situation. It's a situation where Adobe hasn't communicated effectively and left important questions unanswered. With their new model Adobe needs to be really good at communicating their policies and future plans.

Supported in what way? They won't be fixing any more bugs, not even the project corruption issue.

It's an enterprise feature that requires hefty server hardware. It's not geared at mainstream users.

While we're on the subject of speed, this is speculated to be a benchmark for the new Mac Pro:
Interesting to note that in some cases the 2012 model is faster, although it's probably best not to draw too many conclusions until the final version is released.

Tip: hover over the file in Corrupt Clip Finder to see why it was flagged up. Also, you may get better results from scanning the media directory than the project file.

It looks like a corrupt clip to me from the logs.

No, they said later this year. Remember that Apple had a special deal the first time around and got them exclusively before they came to the PC.

As far as I'm aware no devices support Thunderbolt 2 because Intel only just announced it. It's really just a tweak to the design so that the bandwidth is used more efficiently.

I guess the question is how much are people willing to sacrifice for an OS? Some amount of sacrifice has always been necessary when purchasing Apple products but we'll have to wait and see if Apple has pushed the balance too far.

My thoughts:
I don't think we know enough yet to properly judge it.

Each project has a Backup folder, however for some reason Apple decided to only create one backup every 15 minutes and have that version overwrite all previous backups. So if the data you want is more than 15 minutes old you're out of luck.
We make an app called Pro Versioner that is designed for backing up project files and will work with any application on your system, but is especially usef

Error -1 can often be caused by corrupt render files, so try trashing them and exporting again.
We've built up an error message database that is available in our Crash Analyzer and EditCodes tools. You can find a list of currently supported error messages here:
