Click HERE to register now Is there a crop available for 4K 2.39:1? - 1 year agoI'm working on original files which are 4096x2160 (4K DCP) but you need to view it in 4096x1716 to get the projected AR. The built-in widescreen filter doesn't offer a 2.39:1 crop, and even then it doesn't work properly due to the way the master file is formatted (I tried 2.35:1) but it seems to massively overcrop the image. Any suggestions?by MetalGuru - Café LA - X Setting the field order for 1080i interlaced 29.97 - 1 year agoWhen I add bottom field first interlaced footage to the timeline, it is automatically converted to top field first. I can't seem to find a setting to leave the field dominance as per source. Am I missing something obvious?by MetalGuru - Café LA - X Make image black and red only - 3 years agoIf you look at this movie trailer from 1980, the image changes from color to red and black (from 2m 11s) How can I re-create this effect in FCPX? I have tried fiddling around with hues, color grading with no luck so far. Thanksby MetalGuru - Café LA - X Exporting separate 5.1 audio stems - 4 years agoCan anyone help? I've been fiddling about with "roles" for ages. How do I set these up so the exported files are correctly labelled L, C, R, Ls, Rs, LFE? I'd have thought this would be a default export option? Thanksby MetalGuru - Café LA - X Showing duplicated clips/frames in timeline - 5 years agoI could do this with FC7, but I can't find a way of doing it in FCX. I only realised after I'd used several clips twice that there was an option to show already used footage before commiting it to the edit. Doh! Is there a way of showing duplicate footage in the edit itself? Or via an XML export or plugin perhaps?by MetalGuru - Café LA - X Re: Compressor - Strange Behaviour - 5 years agoI've been supplied 23.976 ProRes files, when viewed in QT they shiow "apcn" and won;'t import properly into FCP7. My solkution was to re-convert to Prores using Compressor, but as I said, even when leaving all settings identical, Compressor is duplicating frames. However, if I run the sames files through EditReady, I get perfect FCP7 ready files. I'm confused.by MetalGuru - Café LA Compressor - Strange Behaviour - 5 years agore: Compressor 4.3.2 I'm converting 23.976 ProRes 422 (APCN) to 23.976 ProRes for use in FCP7 (FCP7 doesn't like APCN). I leave all the settings identical to the source file. I'm getting dupe frames every 4 or 5th frame. Any suggestions as to what is causing this?by MetalGuru - Café LA Quicktime on osSierra question - 6 years agoI recently got a new iMac, and was hoping to run MPEG Streamclip on it. The website said I needed the Quicktime component, so I copied that and a few other QT components from my older Mac to the new Mac's Library/Quicktime folder. Now MPEG Streamclip won't even open, and just crashes - along with Compressor. I obviously now need to remove those library components I added, but the Mac says Iby MetalGuru - Café LA Export Dolby TrueHD for Blu-ray? - 6 years ago...and DTS-HD. Can this be done on an old Mac? Or do I need to purhcase a separate encoder? Thanks.by MetalGuru - Café LA Audio File mystery - same but not synching - 6 years agoCan anybody think of a reason why an audio file syncs perfectly on one Mac, but not in the same project file on another Mac? Confused! Shows the same time in FCP7, but longer in Quicktime.by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Video footage, every fourth frame duplicated - 6 years agoIt's how it was supplied. Not much I can with it sadly.by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Video footage, every fourth frame duplicated - 6 years agoActually, it lookks like every fourth then third frame. If I remove these dupe frames it will significantly shorten the interview so I guess it's best to leave it?by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Need stock shots/animation of human heart - 6 years agoThere are some amazing old educational films over at archive.org.by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: 1998 x 1080 @ 24fps - 6 years agoThe 35mm film footage was telecine'd at 24fps. I did a compressor conversion, it's looks amazing.by MetalGuru - Café LA Video footage, every fourth frame duplicated - 6 years agoIs there a fix for this? The footage runs 1t 23.976.by MetalGuru - Café LA 1998 x 1080 @ 24fps - 6 years agoI've just been supplied a new HD master from a film negative and it measures 1998x1080 @ 24fps. I'm editing in FCP7 and exporting for Blu-ray. Do I edit on a standard 1920 x 1080 timeline? If I do so, it will format correctly with slight black bars top and bottom, but will also need re-rendering. Any suggestions?by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Distort Image filter - 6 years agoI have played around with the distort tool, I guess I'll have to find a movie it's used in to remembver exactly what was done. Typically, I can't remember where Ilast saw it used.by MetalGuru - Café LA Distort Image filter - 6 years agoI've seen an effect used in movies where it seems the whole image has been distorted - something like pulling the bottom left and top right corners out. It gives the image a disorientating feel. Any ideas how it's done? A filter of some sort?by MetalGuru - Café LA Compressor for Blu-ray - 6 years agoI'm using compressor to encode files for Sony DoStudio (on a PC). What would be the best setting for LPCM 48 kHz/24 bit audio?by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoI think I've worked it out - it would seem that the PAL 25fps clip was transferred to NTSC 29.98 whilst retaining the 25fps speed.by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoI've no idea what pattern I'm looking for, unfortunately So... I've been testing every option, and up to my 24th setting/attempt, still no luck. I think I'll give up on this one!by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoThanks Graeme. It's actually a 3.5 minute movie trailer. I usually use Compressor to Deinterlace (I've also tried JES DEinterlacer with this one). I've never used Cinema Tools as I don't understand how to work out the cadence. Any help would be most appreciated. I have no idea of the capture mode, does this mean I need to try all Capture Mode and Field options? Is there an app that will pre-anby MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoGraeme, what would be the best workflow for this?by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoThe converted file looks a mess, with dupe frames, missing frames. jumps and interlaced/cross frames across scene changes.by MetalGuru - Café LA Parallax effect for still images? - 6 years agoWhat's the best way of achieving this effect? I guess it would mean stripping the original image down to numerous layers, and then applying a Parallax filter of some sort? Any suggestions?by MetalGuru - Café LA Re: Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoI've already tried doing a conform to 25fps after running it through a Reverse Telecine, but it still looks jerky.by MetalGuru - Café LA Converting film sourced 29.976 clip back to PAL - 6 years agoI need to convert a trailer back to PAL. It's originally from a telecined PAL master, but has been poorly converted to NTSC 29.98. I've had a few attempts at this but it just looks jery and awful.by MetalGuru - Café LA mp4 video, 29.97 fps with every fifth frame duplicated - 6 years agoIs there a way of changing this to 23.976 and removing the dupe frames in Compressor? Using the Reverse Telecine option leaves in the dupe frames. Thanks!by MetalGuru - Café LA Flickering text effect? - 6 years agoI've created a red text graphic in Photoshop and saved it as a .png file. I'd like to add an effect where the text flickers through various shades of red. Is there a filter that will do this?by MetalGuru - Café LA |
