Not registered? Click HERE to register now Sony Camcorder HVR V1U no longer compatible with FCP? - 12 years agoI just bought the new iMac and using FCP version 6.06. The new iMac no longer supports Firewire 400. I only used the Firewire 400 when connecting to the older iMac and everything worked fine. The problem is the Firewire 800 port on the new iMac no longer recognizes the Sony camcorder. As soon as you plug in the Firewire 800 cable to the Sony - the external HD ejects itself and is no longer avaby johnnykai - Café LA Re: Sony V1U terminates when plugging into External HD using Firewire 800 - 12 years agoHere's what's happening - everytime I plug the Sony V1U to an external HD it terminates the external HD. Something about the Sony V1U is creating a termination action as soon as you connect the Firewire 800 to an external HD. That is the reason why I am forced to use Firewire 800. The moment I do the external HD is terminated and no longer visible on the desktop. "has not been properly disconnected" keeps popping up. Is the Sony V1U only compatible with Firewire 400? It is no longer seeing the camera. I am going directly to the internal hard drive because the new iMac only has one 800 connector and no 400 connector any more. What are the settings I should be using on the Sony V1U for HDV recording? What settings to I need to change on FCP to upload the video in HD?
