I'm working with the older quicktime, I think 7.6.0 on a mac quad. The qt's are fine. I'm still using Studio 2 and osx 10.5. (I do listen to Larry Jordan.) They view fine on all mac's and all versions of QT on a mac. The problem comes when someone tries to look at my web videos on a Windows machine, primarily with XP, since that's allby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: quicktime 7.6.4 in windows bug - 14 years agoPlease tell that to all the producers that I want to be able to see my clips. Not you personally of course.by 14hdcp - Café LA Re: quicktime 7.6.4 in windows bug - 14 years agoYea, I believe that's right. I'm away from the machine right now, but I didn't mess with the web codec default. I just found it interesting that it would work on an earlier version and not the newest. Though we mention all the time that updates are not always perfect, I would think that they have tested this. Like I said it works great on any version of the mac version, especially v10 on theby 14hdcp - Café LA quicktime 7.6.4 in windows bug - 14 years agoI just thought this would be worth putting out there. It may even have been discussed to death already. I have just published the first version of my new web site and made move clips available that I created in FCP then output a native self contained QT .mov. I then opened it with Quicktime and exported with "export of the web" and got a very nice mp4. I then included them in my webby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: 3D - 15 years agoThank you Michael. I kinda knew you would be the first and possibly the only reply. Also thanks for the three character tip on the search. I did not know that. See you at the next meeting.by 14hdcp - Café LA 3D - 15 years agoI tried a search with simply "3D" and it found nothing, so I'm asking. I've been talking to Avid about the new beta version of Media Composer that includes some form of 3D capability. I'm budgeting a 3D movie and looking for any information I can. I know about Cameron/Pace and all that. What I was hoping for was a purely Mac, being very loyal, and a FCP solution to the post producby 14hdcp - Café LA Red workflow - 15 years agoHi, I'm sure you're tired of this thread, but I'm stuck. I've been thrown a budget emergency to change a current HD budget to a budget using the RED camera. Like an idiot, I've pretty much been ignoring discussions about the camera and workflow and the one LAFCPUG meeting I missed was the one on this subject. I know Graeme is the guru for this, but I don't know him. It's a low budget picby 14hdcp - Café LA Lt/Rt matrix audio decode - 16 years agoI'm working on two small projects that have been previously mixed in 5.1 descreet surround with a two track Lt/Rt dolby matrix pro-logic mix. I know the matrix is supposed to stay with the two track Lt/Rt unless intentionally mono'd, but I can't seem to find any indication of it anywhere in FCP or STP. I've pulled it into compressor, but it doesn't detect it. I'm hoping to make a small changeby 14hdcp - Soundtrack Pro FVD - 16 years agoHas anyone had any experience with Forward Versatile discs? And any interface with FCP?by 14hdcp - Café LA Excel to Illustrator to tiff end credits crawl - 17 years agoI used a process once before that I was able to create and re-edit my end credits in Excel and then paste them into Illustrator and then export a tiff that made a great HD end credit crawl. My only problem is I can only remember the process as far as the excel file. Every time I try to create the Illustrator file I can't get the formatting correct. I know I got this from a tutorial or a post,by 14hdcp - Café LA 5.04 to 5.1 upgrade - 17 years agoOkay, I finally hit it. I just cut a job at another facility and thought I'd bring it home to output it from my laptop. I brought my firewire drive with me and now I'm getting general error 41. So it's a program version problem, backward compatiblity. Hey, it's version 5. How long are we going to tolerate having to pay for every little tweek these guys do. My problem is I can't seem to finby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: online sample reels - 17 years agoThanks guys, I still haven't seen much technical notes about file sizes, etc. I do appreciate the content input though and I liked the looks of Andy's site. It's length would be about right, I guess, I haven't cut the reel yet. And Derek, I agree that cutting a bunch of feature length clips into second or less cuts won't let anyone see anything. I think though a combination of the suggestioby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: online sample reels - 17 years ago"What kinds of work do you do? How much material are you trying to put together? What file sizes are you aiming for?" Yea, that's exactly the kind of question I was hoping to get an answer to. I want the most for the least, as always. I've seen sites that have individual QT clips but nothing with say a three to five minute promo, which is where I was going. Most of the stuff I've dby 14hdcp - Café LA online sample reels - 17 years agoWhat's the best work flow scenario for the online reel. I've seen a couple and there doesn't seem to be much of a concensus. More and more small producers are asking for them and I thought I'd put one together. Is there a paper on it yet?by 14hdcp - Café LA FCP rescue - 18 years agoI just went to the site to get the latest version of rescue and I get "this site has been suspended". Any ideas what happened?by 14hdcp - Café LA Re: THE problem(s) with Media Manager - 18 years agoI'd love to see an article dedicated to the current problems of media manager, for the latest version of FCP. I tried it once to consolidate and it freaked me out. I have confidence in Avid. Consolidation works wonderfully on it, at least from my experience. I have 6 drives I'd love to whittle down to one and free up space, but the fear of losing media now keeps me from trying it. Also maybeby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: DVC Pro 50 hard drive space - 18 years agooh yea the digital heaven one's much betterby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: fleshtone reference - 18 years agoYea, China girl (although she wasn't asian). That was it. I think she was the wife of someone at Eastman Kodak or something. Marcie I don't remember. I guess with all televisions having their own unique color settings and everyone having their own taste, it's pretty subjective. Just getting an even hue adjustment and similar tones is as good as it gets. I have one angle that has three men siby 14hdcp - Café LA fleshtone reference - 18 years agoThe last time I went to a professional DeVinci bay and watched the generously paid colorist do his magic, and I do appreciate their artistry, I remember seeing a picture of an attractive lady that he used as a calibrated reference for fleshtone. As I remember it was used to compare the fleshtone on the scopes as well as to refresh the colorists eye to what the correct color balance should look lby 14hdcp - Café LA multi clip angle changes on its own - 18 years agoJust curious, has anyone noticed that occasionally a multi clip angle will change on it's own? Every once in awhile while I working on a sequence I'll actually see on cut switch angles. No drugs, really. I've started collapsing the multiclips now so that this never occurs.by 14hdcp - Café LA Re: Features cut on FCP - 18 years agoI recently asked a negative cutter I used on a couple of pictures and she said that she's used lists from FCP on a number of movies and she's very confident with it. Considering the number of low low budget movies made each year that get no press or publicity and never see a commercial theatre I would imagine it's used more than you would suspect. As far as lightworks is concerned....I've onlby 14hdcp - Café LA P2 Media cards, etc. - 18 years agoMy producers are buying three Panasonic cameras (which ones I don't know yet), that take the proprietary P2 cards. Other than the limited media length problems we are going to experience, does anyone have any practical experience using this media platform in a longer form show? I've read the help description on importing the P2 media, but I can find little relative material even on the Panasoniby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: DVCPro 50 uprez conversion to HD - 18 years agoThanks guys, you're the best. It wasn't as technical as I would have liked, but you've confirmed what I've told them. It's really one or the other now for the company now, as the budget is limited. Thanksby 14hdcp - Café LA DVCPro 50 uprez conversion to HD - 18 years agoThe talk floating around our office is the idea of shooting in SD dvcpro 50 and up converting to some HD format for future distribution. Our DP says he's seen some tests and was very impressed. My contention is that the end result, although in a HD format, is far from HD. Other than the 4:2:2 color spacing matching in some HD formats, aren't we essentially down converting in this area, I meanby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: switching from SD to HD workflow and equipment - 18 years agoOkay, now that's the kind of feedback I like. Simple and direct Thank youby 14hdcp - Café LA Re: switching from SD to HD workflow and equipment - 18 years agoAh yes, DDQ, (dammit digibeta quality). We haven't been using the DV50 capabilities except for output and an occasional line cut. All our camera decks are DV25. I've been forced, for right now, to edit in this format. I look forward to the change. Graeme, you were very helpful once when I needed to mix the DV25 and DV50 formats, thanks. The xraid was also 1st on my list, and has been on mby 14hdcp - Café LA switching from SD to HD workflow and equipment - 18 years agoI just had a meeting with the prez. of the co. and she informed me that we are going to upgrade all our studio equipment. Right now we have DV25 and DV50 decks with SD remote cameras. The upgrades are going to be to either Digi-Beta or some HD config. I currently have the equipment listed below, and I don't have an outside capture card at all now. I'm kinda looking Blackmagic, but I'm lookingby 14hdcp - Café LA |
