we have runned FCP7 with 10.6x, 10.7.x, and 10.8.x without any issue. each time, a true full reinstall, no transfer or reimport from one version to the other. we only use FCP, no other softwares from FCS3. and since we have 10.8.x, we can run Premiere CS6 along with FCP on same machine. also, put a XFX radeon 6870 (the normal retail version) a voilà you have a powerfull GPU used by premierby fredsky - Café LA

FCP7 is a very old architected software : only 32bits, and about 6cores maximum usage in best case. we do have 12, 6 and 4 cores machines at work, can not see render speed diffrence between them. also, compressor is complex, and do bad jobs.... so we use carbon rhozet on a PC, much better and as everybody does , make a smart move : buy a radeon card with 1GB, put on your mac, and install Pby fredsky - Café LA

offcialy, you need FCP to install the prores package. but this is not necessary, you can extract and install the corresponding package without FCP... guess this is not supported by Apple as usual. you cheapest option is to still use DVCpro50, and the windows software from calibrated to read it on a PC. on the hardware side you have prores (and dnxhd) direct to disk encoders (aja, blackmagicby fredsky - Café LA
FCP 7 keeps on asking for serial number with lion - 12 years ago
hello everyone! this is my first post here, i'm desesperate to find a solution for that issue: - i have the serial - i've fresh installed FCP7 onto 10.8 - first time i launch FCP7, it ask me for the serial. validate and OK, i use it. - i can close FCP7 and restart, no need to put serial again. - but EACH TIME i reboot the machine, FCP7 is asking again for this damn serial number. this isby fredsky - Café LA
