Keep in mind as well that you cannot perform this on multiple layers at once. All the clips will end up in a long string on your currently active track. Unless someone knows a workaround for that . . .by Mike MacFarlane - Café LA

Working with 4.5 here, and I do get the occasional line or series of lines in my Viewer window(and less frequently in my Canvas window). They seem to be pretty much what Scott has noted: artifacts that are not being cleared off as the playhead line travels through the timeline of the window. I wish I had some comparable footage on my system to check this out, but I'll have to use my imagination here . . . What you might need to do is mask out the top ("ghosted" layer except for the path of the subject walking off screen. Then keyframe the mask to cover the chair as the subject walks away from the chair, to eliminate the ghost chair over the non-ghost subject on the bottoby Mike MacFarlane - Café LA

When our company switched over to FCP, we got wacom tablets with our G5's. The commercial editor at our sister station swears by the tablet, and can't believe that we never use it. For myself, using the mouse comes much more naturally . . . but I have to admit if I had a choice, I'd use a tracball (and have an old-school Logitech tracball for my home system)!by Mike MacFarlane - Café LA

Hello all; My Creative Director recently returned from a FCP training course (where he got certified as a Level 1 FCP trainer, the lucky so-and-so), and heard the instructor mention in passing that Microsoft Excel can be used to log footage, and then be imported into FCP for capturing. He's done a web search for more information on this, but has turned up nothing. Does anyone know if this is pby Mike MacFarlane - Café LA

I just took a quick look at it on my system, and the slider for Desaturate goes from 100 to -100, right to left. The -100 setting seems to pump the saturation up considerably, so you'll probably just want to slide it left to the mid-range position, which is 0.by Mike MacFarlane - Café LA

We've been using "Vapor Across" from the Eureka free plugins pack (www.kafwang.com). Gives a neat blur & overexpose to white and back as a transition. Works well as a short (10 frames or less) transition between clips with a lot of contrast, as well as giving a different look to bring in and taking out text/graphics.by Mike MacFarlane - Café LA
