I've NEVER come across this before. thank you VERY VERY much.by frankpledge - Café LA Online...but not playing back in timeline? - 14 years agoHi all. Never seen this one before after 7 years. I have clips online, but they are "darker" on the timeline then other clips and do not play back. as though they are actually not there.... but they exist and come up on match frame. How do I "reactivate" them aside from re-cutting them in? thanks all! I have FCP running off my system drive AND off a firewire clone of that system. why? because some clients have FCP 6 and some have FCP 5. I have to work in both. however, BOTH versions are denying me the ability to "load seq preset" I tried your suggestions...no luck. is there a place in the system that these presets live? thanks again for your help! fpby frankpledge - Café LA Re: "sequence preset" not working? - 15 years agoI trashed the prefs and still I'm not getting my array of seq presets. Does anyone know where they live within the harddrive so i can see if they are there and or restore them? I'm starting to kinda need these presets.. thanks all fpby frankpledge - Café LA Re: "sequence preset" not working? - 15 years agothanks for the link, strypes, although I'm very familiar with how to do the pref trashing, I'm curious about what the Sequence Presets tab is.by frankpledge - Café LA Re: "sequence preset" not working? - 15 years agoNot sure exactly what you mean by Sequence Presets tab. What I mean is (although you might already understand) is that when I got to seq setting and hit the "load Sequence Presets" i get that pop up with a pull down. that pulldown is stuck on dv implying that it has no other presets. I'd like to check what your talking about before i trash the prefs. I know FCP well, just not sureby frankpledge - Café LA "sequence preset" not working? - 15 years agoHi all I have a strange issue. My sequence preset has stopped working. The pulldown menu is "stuck" @ DV setting as though that's all there is. If i open a project that already has a different sequence preset like say 8bit, it works fine, I just can't CHANGE it. The capture preset list still works. I would reload these sequence presets, but I don't even know where they live onby frankpledge - Café LA Re: Are you sure? Oh, I'm sure. - 15 years agono locked tracks. i would say no corrupt prefs. It's that 'out of sync' clip sitting later on in the timeline. which i wanted there. I put it there. I liked it there. Deleting it off the timeline was the fix. I think it's just a poorly designed function/message. I don't think it should tell me that even if my tracks are locked somewhere. I had an audio clip AFTER the edit point in the timeline that was "out of sync" as in - it indicated that it was out by x amount of frames etc. It was sitting alone, among a bunch of other 'selects'. I deleted it and now i can insert again. It was just a left over chunk of audio that i left there (on A1 and A2) and whatever. I place in/out on source clip in viewer window. I hit the Yellow button on the canvas window indicating an insert edit. Message appears: "This operation would move items out of sync. EVERY time i want to insert cut some stuff (aka normal source viewer to canvas/timeline edit) on my timeline FCP tells me: 1 - my that clips further down the timeline will go out of sync - which it does not...ever! They stay around for ever to keep everything consistent. the industry is FULL of these. Sticks or Slate - when was the last time a movie used sticks? or a chalk slate? I sorta think the biggest gain in the suite would be in Compressor considering the virtual cluster. it's kind of incredible... thanks! fpby frankpledge - Café LA OT: mac pro & compressor - 16 years agohey all, just wondering about speed on the 8 core mac pros and compressor. I'm on a g5 dual 2.5 and more and more i have to compress for the web. it's starting to kill me. otherwise i'm still doing pretty well on the ole' G5. no real complaints with FCP. just wondering if anyone out there has experience in the performance boost going from approx what i have to the newer systems when it cby frankpledge - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio UPDATE out - 16 years agoI stand corrected. I don't know where my experience came from. seriously. I tend to be a slow updater (ain't broke don't fix it mentality). I have no clue why I don't remember the warning popup other than full version changes. maybe i just get nervous when doing full upgrades in terms of having a smooth transition with older projects so I become more focused on the moment of 'project upgrade'.by frankpledge - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio UPDATE out - 16 years agoHi, Just making sure that I didn't mess up on update. Now when I open 6.02 files i get the warning that it is an older format and needs to updated as if I opened say a FCP 5 file. I've never seen this with an update within the FCP version. is this happening to everyone, or do i need to re-update? also, Shane, I'm not seeing in the release notes that they fixed a multicam reconnect issueby frankpledge - Café LA Re: how do you do this ? - 16 years agomark in & out. hit the small 'delete' key that sits with the small cluster over to the right of the keyboard. right under 'insert'by frankpledge - Café LA Re: OT: Really working? Or just doing nothing? - 16 years agoI've actually never heard of anyone 'accusing' post/editors et al jobs as "not working". Ever. I'm in NYC (but was the same in LA) but i've always gotten the exact reverse vibe from people, even laymen. I'm having the EXACT same problem with 10.5 & FCP6. I just went back to Tiger. You're on a PPC yeah? I think there is an issue with PPC/10.5/fcp6 for some (all?). My 10.5 & fcp6 were both clean installs. I will try that as time goes by. I'll stick to Tiger for the time being. The Leopard 'system' is in a FW enclosure ready fro testing as updates roll in. The apps were originally fresh installed and NOT upgraded. I never do that for just this reason. I will check back after the next Leopard updates. The only reason is because I'm seriously wondering if there is a problem with FCP6 & Leopard and I'm hoping that maybe a new post would attract people that missed the last one because I'm curious if anyone else on a PPC has had issues with FCP6 performancby frankpledge - Café LA Re: Progressivly slowing timeline performance - 16 years agoThanks for reply. I would definatley think that would be a culprit, but, the DV footage is off a G-raid (way fast enough) and my SD 8bit is running off a software raid that the black magic disk speed tests report 121 read, 116 write. that should be good, yeah? besides, 2 things: 1 - the raid has always performed amazingly with SD 8bit 2 - it's also happening on the G-raid different mby frankpledge - Café LA Progressivly slowing timeline performance - 16 years agoHey all, I posted over at cow to zero responses and thought I'd try here. I'm getting progressively sluggish performance on my timeline in FCP6/Leopard. I'm not the only one: I found that changing ANY timeline setting brings back performance and then, over time, it slows again. meaning: dumping render, changing timeline options, doing the above (link) gamma switch, etc. Tby frankpledge - Café LA |
