It's free and will find and get rid of all associated application files that don't get deleted when you simply drag the application into the trash. Just be careful if you are looking to someday upgrade to a newer version of FC Studio. You will need to re-install FCP5 or at least keep your FCP system ID file, which is what FC looks for when installing an upgradeby pscheehle - Café LA Re: MPEG 4 to edit in FCP5 - 16 years agoDon't even bother working w/ the Mpeg4's. Mpeg Streamclip is a great, free application (http://www.squared5.com/). Go back to the DVD's and open them using Streamclip, and it will then let you export to any editing-friendly codec you flavor, such as DV NTSC or DV Pal. I don't use Handbrake so I don't know if it has the option for you to change what format it will rip DVDs into, but Streamby pscheehle - Café LA Re: Advice on installing FCS2 on second Mac Pro internal drive and also keeping FCS1 on another drive - 16 years agoI just installed my FCS 2 upgrade copy onto 1 of my bootable system drive partitions, and the install did not affect the copy of FCS 1 or FCP HD on my other boot drives. I believe that the "All versions of Final Cut" refers to only the drive you are installing to. It great alot to hear a good range of opinions and experiences from those who have done similar things/been in similar situations, which is the great value of what this forum is all about. Now I'm off to make some decicions and perhaps get sized-up for that tarzan suit....by pscheehle - Café LA OT: Editor relocating to L.A. area - 16 years agoHi everyone, I'm a freelance FCP editor currently working in Boston, and beyond editing I also do quite a bit of DVD authoring and also AE work. My girlfriend has the opportunity to relocate to LA w/ her company, and I was hoping those of you working in the LA area might give me some advice as we are contemplating the opportunity. I have been working professionally as an editor for about 7 yeaby pscheehle - Café LA Re: Compressor 2 is inferior - 17 years agoThis from Apple explains the upgrade issue: Peteby pscheehle - Café LA Re: Burning DVDs with External Burner, not iDVD - 17 years agoThe "Mpeg-2 60min High Quality" preset setting will work well for anything 60 minutes or less. For more than an hour of video, use the "90 min" or "120min" setting, accodingly. peteby pscheehle - Café LA Re: Burning DVDs with External Burner, not iDVD - 17 years agoUse Compressor to encode the video to Mpeg-2 (not mpeg-1). Then in Toast select "DVD-Video" from the "Video" tab. Drag in your Mpeg-2 video file and corresponding aiff audio file. There may be an option in Toast (if you have Toast Titanium) to create a menu for the DVD, but I have never used that and have no idea if it is any good. For a straight dvd of your video that will siby pscheehle - Café LA Re: OT: FCP and Sony DVD Direct burner? - 17 years agoThanks for the info both of you, I guess it confirms my initial thoughts that burning direct might be a cheap and quick way to run off quick demos when quality is not as big of a concern as speed and turnaround time. Anything that can allow me to NOT be at the mercy of the molassas-like speed of Compressor will come in handy. Best peteby pscheehle - Café LA OT: FCP and Sony DVD Direct burner? - 17 years agoHi there, Was wondering if anyone here owns or has used any sort if external direct DVD recorder? And if yes, have they used it w/ FCP? I am looking for a way to try and cut down on the endless hours I waste each week compressing and burning various versions of edits to DVD to give to my clients for "approval". Sony for example offers a few reasonably priced direct DVD burners that haby pscheehle - Café LA Re: Best DVD format - 17 years agoNewer versions of Toast Titanium automatically strip the DVD SP ".LAY" files when you drap the VIDEO_TS folder into Toast. I don't know if this is only true when using Titanium, but I have Titanium 6 and this is the case. Best, Peteby pscheehle - Café LA |
