I've seen some footage off the camera and it is amazing. Anyway, at this point in time there are few options for attaching the SSD drive to your Mac for video ingest. I found a SSD to USB 3 (backward compatible to USB 2) device for $29.00. In the future, I'm sure that there wiby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Thunderbolt RAID suggestions, please - 10 years agoThis is what I'm running. Expensive but excellent. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Final Cut Pro 3 - all black screen - 10 years agoFor me, on one of my Macs, it's the Function (fn) Command and F12. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: How to Copy Just the Color Correction to Another Clip - 10 years agoOnce you have color corrected a clip, you can save the CC settings as a Preset. Then select all the other clips you want to correct and apply the Preset. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA - X Re: FCP training - 11 years agoSteve Martin of Ripple Training has a 5 hour FCP X tutorial. I have been going through it, it's excellent. $39.00. I also have a First Look at FCP X article by Steve. I think that you'll recognize the screen shots. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Edit in HDV and author to DVD Studio Pro? - 11 years agoI have this on HDV to SD DVD. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: OT: March 24 lafcpug meeting maybe the last one - 13 years agoHi Mike, So sad, wish that there was something that I could do to help. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Black out screen - 13 years agoIn some cases, depending on how you have you keyboard set up, you might need to hold down the 'fn' key and then hit command F12. You can also can also quit FCP and then trash the FCP Prefs. This will return everything back to default. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Easy set up settings for JVC GY-HM100u? - 13 years agoCorrect, XDCAM EX. Select your frame size, rate rate and Progressive or Interlaced. If you are not sure, drag a clip from the card into a new project. It will ask if you want the sequence to match the clip. Say yes. Then look at the Sequence settings for clip info. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Deleting files from P2 cards directly in the HVX - 13 years agoHave you tried re formatting the P2 card? --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: AVCHD files and FCP - 13 years agoI think that many people thought the FCP 7 would be more AVCHD friendly/ One can only hope. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: AVCHD files and FCP - 13 years agoHi Alexander, There is a third party app called 'Video Pier', that will bring HVCHD (and other formats) into the Mac. You might want to check it out. I know several people who use it. Runs on a G5. System requirements Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later 1-GHz G4, G5, or Intel-based Mac 512 MB of RAM An MPEG2 camera (optional) Internet connection required for registration. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Best HDV camera? - 13 years agoFor even more, check this out. Scroll down to the HPX 170 section. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Best HDV camera? - 13 years agoHi Rick, Panasonic now has two type of crads for the HPX 170. P2 cards which are more expensive and new E cards which are less expensive. These cards are the only ones that work with the HPX 170. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Best HDV camera? - 13 years agoFor offload from the HPX 170 there is an inexpensive way to go and is used by many. Only hardware required, a firewire cable. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Best HDV camera? - 13 years agoHi Rick, I suggested the HM 100 because of price $3,500.00. If you have a bit more to spend, definitely check out the 170, it is my favorite camera. I like the look of the footage off these two cameras, I think that one reason is that both cameras shoot with CCD chips and NOT CMOS chips. Most of the 170 footage I work with is DVCPRO HD 720p 24pn, runs like a dream in FCP. My 2 cents.by Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Best HDV camera? - 13 years agoHave you had a look at the JVC GY-HM100. I've seen some of the footage off this camera and I am impressed. Easiest FCP workflow ever. Check out Rick Young's review. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: HDV to SP DVD - Is there a definitive answer? - 13 years agoHi Jeff, There are some people who do have problems going from HDV to MPEG2 and get poor quality, loss of audio sync, artifacting, etc. I do believe that these people were shooting in 1080i. For those people this process is sucessful and as it works around the problems that they were having, they would not consider it to be 'wrong-headed'. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: HDV to SP DVD - Is there a definitive answer? - 13 years agoAnd there is this. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: FCP sequence to iMovie- Best Practice? - 13 years agoI just tested and it worked for me. Open the graphical view in iDVD, you should be able to see your chapters and menus. When I click on the button for the video (track) in the main menu, after adding chapter markers, it takes me to a new menu that does have 'Play Movie' and 'Scene Selection' menus. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: FCP sequence to iMovie- Best Practice? - 13 years agoNot really sure what you are trying to do. You are exporting from FCP, right? Where do you want to go, into iMovie? After you have exported your FCP self contained QT movie, open iMovie and from the File menu > Import. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: FCP sequence to iMovie- Best Practice? - 13 years agoWhen you import video into iMovie, it gets transcoded to AIC. I did test with different frame rates (imported different rates into one project) and iMovie seem to handle it all. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: FCP sequence to iMovie- Best Practice? - 13 years agoYou'll have to Import the video (clips) from FCP into iMovie. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: FCP sequence to iMovie- Best Practice? - 13 years agoWe don't use Compressor in conjunction with iDVD. Export from FCP File > Export > QT (Not with Conversion). Make Self Contained, Use Current Settings, Do Not Recompress all frames. Drop the QT export into iDVD. iDVD will do the compression. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: DVCProHD to DVD - 13 years agoHi John, I don't bother transcoding to ProRes. I export DVCPRO HD 720p from FCP > File > Export > QT (Not with Conversion). Make Self Contained, Use Current Settings, Do Not Recompress all frames. I then drop the QT export into Compressor. I get excellent results. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA Re: Need Compressor setting for web video - 13 years agoHi Leesa, This might help. --kenby Ken Stone - Café LA |
