I'M GONNA CRANK UP TO 30 FROM A 24P SETTING. GENIUS. CHEERS OVER AND OUT. DOM LOCHERby dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoOne more thing as we're onto talking the gospel of all things video. I've always been slightly confused by the following. One can shoot interlaced PAL for example at 1080/50i as well as 1080/25i. Does 50i represent twice the amount of information being recorded as 25i? The reason i'm confused is that when we were talking about shooting 720/24p you were saying that recording at 48p would be 'sloby dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoSorry to not to be clear as i could have been, I was referring to overcranking the frame rate to shoot slow motion. 1. This is true, but as an editor myself I know that you can output footage to required format from a range of shooting formats. Anyway, better to be safe than sorry... 2. FCP can handle 30p just fine right? Then the editor could then easily output it as a TV safe frame rate.by dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoHey Tom, Good advise!!! So i've done some tests using people walking on the street and cars from my window, it looks like 24p could be a little slow for moving objects and at 48 a little quick and 48 limits me to shooting in 720 mode as apposed to 1080. I tried shooting 1080/30p and it was nice quality but very 'video' looking compared to 24p. The editor who will be working on this job after iby dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoHi Tom Good to know, so you would use the ND filter maintain the Apeture rather than changing the shutter from 180? My camera (sony ex1) seems to loose its sharpness when an ND filter is switched on.. Annoying as hell!! Cheers Domby dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoThanks Tom, I'm using MXM express 34 adapters in my EX1 instead of the overprices SXS cards by Sony. The limitations are that i cant overcrank higher than 720p/48. What are your thoughts on shooting 1080/60i instead? Cheers mate Domby dom - Café LA Re: Helicopter shoots - 14 years agoThanks for all your input folks! Its really made me realise how important some form of rig is up there, i've spoken to the produder who now promises to have something in place for me which is good to know! As for choosing between 1080/60i and 1080/30p I think i'll go with 60i as when I did tests from a fast moving car today it seemed to turn out best. I'm shooting NTSC and either 1080/60i or 720/30p. Its my first time doing something like this and i'm really anxious about screwing up the shot by not using the right shutter speed. We're gonna be flying low to the ocean and rain forests. Does anyone have any advise on shutter sby dom - Café LA Filmin in Antarctica - 14 years agoHi Guys, I'm filming in Antarctica next week, any last minute tips? I'm shooting on my Sony EX1 and my Nikon D90. Also, I'm trying to get my XDCAM transfer software working on my 'Mac Air' so i can ingest footage remotely. Its saying I have several missing codecs. Who knows a good site to download all needed codecs? Thankyou Domby dom - Café LA Re: Sony HVR Z5 vs HVR Z7 Which one should I buy? - 15 years agoThanks for all your 2 cents! Much appreciated, sadly still no closer to my decision. The Panasonic 202 some of you suggested is a pretty ugly camera to use compared to Sony's layout. As for the EX1, what amazing image quality but the cards are still way to expensive. Have a good one fellas Domby dom - Café LA Sony HVR Z5 vs HVR Z7 Which one should I buy? - 15 years agoHi guys, I've got until 9am monday to choose between these two cameras. I've been reading countless reviews which haven't really got my any closer to a decision. I've been offered a great deal on the Z7 making it only $400 (AUS) more expensive than the Z5. Pro's on the Z7: Its got a lever on the zoom ring which isn't featured on the Z5. This allows fast manual zooming. Is it better than the beloved Z1? - 15 years agoHi all, I'm chosing a new camera, i've been looking and playing with the Sony Ex1, amazing image quality, just too damn expensive in terms of buying SXS cards. I've been aware of the new HVR-Z5E which has been released in the US and UK, i'm living in Sydney, it's all very hush hush about when or if it will be released out here. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge to share on the HVR-Z5E ? Its now time to buy a new camera and i'm quite confused with all the new HD models and SS card systems on the market. I've recently used the Sony EX1 which was very impressive but it's quite restrictive by having a fixed lens. I've been told by someone to look at the JVC ProHD range but they still useby dom - Café LA Has anyone used the Sony HVR-Z7U ( interchangable lenses)? - 15 years agoHas anyone used the Sony HVR-Z7U ( interchangable lenses)? As their main editor, i'm fed up with all the mini dv tapes and would welcome the new AVC 1920 x 1080 recording format which the I'm told the Sony HDR-SR7 to the HDR SR11 range offer. I'll then be getting the tapes send back to Sydney to edit. I'm aware there's alot of HDV cameras out there but is this the best option considering it won't be edited in High Def.
