Click HERE to register now Handwritten effect... possible in FCP 7 ? - 10 years agoHi everyone- I am working on a video and would like to have words appear on screen that look as though they are being handwritten. I don't want to use a font, I want to actually have it handwritten, with unique features (sloppy, nuances etc) that can only happen when it's written out. Is there a plugin for this? A tutorial somewhere? Or if someone is a master at it we could hire you for thatby alquimista - Café LA Re: 6D footage to ProRes HQ - 10 years agoThanks Derek- Im surprised this is a topic that hasn't been discussed much. Having a hard time finding any info.by alquimista - Café LA Re: Display Unavailable - 10 years agoSomewhat related... How do I convert 6D files to Prores?? Can't seem to do it...by alquimista - Café LA Re: 6D footage to ProRes HQ - 10 years agoThanks D! That's exactly what I thought to do... but FCP L&T says it doesn't recognize the raw 6D files... ?by alquimista - Café LA 6D footage to ProRes HQ - 10 years agoIs there a tut/link somewhere for this? I just shot 60fps with the Canon 6D, now want to edit at 24fps, ProRes HQ in FCP... Thank you!by alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years agoAnd you say to get the AE version... is that a lot better than going through FCP?by alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years agoFor twixtor, would I need to buy the PRO version? Pretty costly... does LAFCPUG have any discounts/codes etc?by alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years agoGreat, thanks Mr Corbett ... one would still have to have a fairly clean frame and smooth movements though I assume?by alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years agoWell really what I'm wanting to do is BUY a second camera, to add to the 5D. Would the 6d be the best option, has anyone used one? The reviews appear to be pretty good. And it shoots at 60.by alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years agoYes, you are right. The mkii doesnt do high speed... Ive had mine for 2 years and LOVE it... but I only wish it had a damn highspeed option. I guess what Im wondering is are there any DSLRs that shoot higher than 60fps. The 7D etc have been shooting 60fps for a couple years now, so I was thinking that there must be something better than a camera from 2 years ago (as they seem to keep evolvingby alquimista - Café LA Re: great slo mo - 11 years ago'The old trick was to shoot at 720p60 and then transcode and conform it to ProRes 23.976 fps in Compressor. That can give you pretty good slow mos.' Yes, indeed that's the 'old' trick... and I've tried it and it worked GREAT... but that was a yr ago, just wondering if there is a 'new' trick nowadays... a new camera that shoots higher than 60fps, etc... (thanks!)by alquimista - Café LA great slo mo - 11 years agoI am going to be shooting a music video and will require some great slo mo. I have a 5DMkii which is my go-to. I don't want to go rent a Red, only have a few slo-mo shots and will have more with future projects as well, so either want to invest in great software (twixtor etc) or a DSLR that shoots higher speed (is the 6D all that?). Would like to know any favorite DSLR cameras that shoot higheby alquimista - Café LA Re: Beauty Box - 11 years agoOkay great... thanks! Shopping time then. Happy Easter!by alquimista - Café LA Re: Beauty Box - 11 years agoShane, have you used the regular EMA as well? Or only the fast version...by alquimista - Café LA Re: Beauty Box - 11 years agoThank you! And thanks Shane for the advice and tutorial on getting footage from the t2i into FCP. I shot with the 5D at 1920/1080 and the T2i at 1280/720. Output will be 1280/720. Would you edit at 1280/720 timeline or 1920/1080?by alquimista - Café LA 5D MK2 and t2i (550d) into FCP... where is that link? - 11 years agoHi... I just shot a music video using my 5D MK2, and also a t2i (for the 60 fps feature). Painfully trying to import the t2i into FCP now. I know there is a hack somewhere, but is this still the best way to do it, (or has something new and cleaner/easier come along yet?). Also, I shot in 1920x1080p with the 5D, but 1280x720 with the t2i. Should I edit in a 1920 project or a 1280? THby alquimista - Café LA Beauty Box - 12 years agoHas anyone used Beauty Box? Is it the plugin of choice for fixing an actor's complexion, for in this case, music video work? Thanks! Open to other, possibly better suggestions.by alquimista - Café LA Re: P2cam vs 5D 24 fps question - 12 years agoYou know. ... I just lined up the 30fps P2 material (for sound only) and the 24fps 5D material, and it is perfectly in sync (and stays that way)... Not going to mess with it too much more, will just get to cutting... whew, relieved. Thanks again Shane, HUGE help!by alquimista - Café LA Re: P2cam vs 5D 24 fps question - 12 years agoSorry Shane... think I'm pretty much there... So. 'But, if you want to convert the frame rate, you can convert to ProRes at the same time.' Do you mean via Compressor? As in: Take the NEW P2 prores files into Compressor and convert them to 24 FPS / Prores? Or do you mean take the P2 original and convert it /change framerate somehow etcetc?by alquimista - Café LA Re: Duhhh. - 12 years agoOkay ... yes I am confused about the 1280 as well. The P2--> Prores converted files in FCP are 1280x1080, DVCPRO HD, 1080i60, 14.1 MB/Sec, 4 mono, ... but yes, when I put them into a 5D timeline it looks okay, just a green render.by alquimista - Café LA Re: Duhhh. - 12 years agoHaha no prob! That's great about the spanning, and that surely must've happened because there are some long takes/large files etc. Cool. So, as a last question ... shall I take the new P2 footage aka Prores files (30fps) and convert to 24 in Compressor? Or like you mentioned before, just use the original 30fps .MXF files through Compressor (into 24fps Prores HD)? I'd also while I'm at itby alquimista - Café LA Re: P2cam vs 5D 24 fps question - 12 years agoI just went through Log and Transfer ( P2 AVC Intra --> Prores 422 HQ) It looks great, sounds great etc... But if you think I shoudl just redo it through compressor, converting all on one pass I will do that. Also, it's weird but the original P2 files (Contents/Video) have 23 .MXF files, but only 19 show up when I drag the entire folder over to FCP L&T .. And only 19 therefore were cby alquimista - Café LA Re: P2cam vs 5D 24 fps question - 12 years agoShane... I watched your tutorial earlier today, it's awesome. I have done up my 5D footage as normal (using Log and Transfer) and have it Prores HQ. And have also transcoded the P2 footage in Prores HQ. Should I now take that P2 Prores footage and convert it to 24 fps? I really need the sound from the P2 to use with the 5D footage... ? Thanks again... the tutorial is fantastic!by alquimista - Café LA P2cam vs 5D 24 fps question - 12 years agoHi there- I shot footage for an EPK on the weekend with my 5D Mk2. Needed a second camera. All I could find with short notice was a guy with a Panasonic AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD P2 camera. 2 questions: I shot at 24 fps. He mistakenly shot at 30 fps. He was recording the concert sound via xlr (which I want to sync up to in FCP with my 5D footage). Also, I have received his files and am wonby alquimista - Café LA Re: Question about H.264 - 13 years agoCool, thanks Derek! That's what I need to hear. Is there some white page or resource as to the correct (optimal) method/settings? Also, I had two cameras shooting... one camera shot at 30 fps (he didn't have the latest firmware). I shot at 24... should I make his 24? Sorry, I know these are rookie questions... new with this (awesome) 5D. Thanks!!!!!!!!! Lby alquimista - Café LA Re: Question about H.264 - 13 years agoSo... is it necessary (quality-wise) to transcode to ProRes first? I just shot a music vid with the 5DMKII that is for tv broadcast (SD). Should I just edit with the files as is from the camera (H.264) or would you wizards recommend (or demand) that it be first converted to Prores (HQ or LT). Drivespace and transcoding time are no concern... just quality. Oh, also, while editing I would likby alquimista - Café LA camera store in vegas - 13 years agoHey there ... just budding for a second ... I'm just wondering: I need to pick up a few supplies, compressed air, an LED video light (not sure which one, suggestions??), a light stand for balancing the Glidecam (things I can't fly with etc), and would like any advice as to a great STORE in Las Vegas to buy some of these items may be. Thanby alquimista - Café LA Re: Reconnect/Up-Rez from RT to ProRes - 14 years agoWell... what I did was duplicate my sequence in the RT project. Then start a new project called ProRes... Copy pasted the duplicated sequence into the new Prores project. Closed the Rt project... In the Prores project, changed the copy/pasted sequence's settings to match the 'soon to be incoming' Prores footage. Then made the entire sequence offline. Then reconnected it to the Prores fileby alquimista - Café LA |
