When they are brought into FCP we have to cut them in, then bring them into the viewer and reset the motion tab to 100% (they come in at 97.46% with the top and bottom slightly cropped. What should the graphics team do in After Effects to eliminate that step and deliver 720 x 576? Here is the response from the graphics team:by Stopedog - Café LA the weirdest thing - 13 years agoMy Mac Pro randomly logs out while I am working. It has happened in FCP, compressor and Photoshop. I am doing something on the computer, then suddenly the screens go blue, then I am returned to the login window. No, I didn't hit shift-apple-Q. I have never seen anything like this. Any ideas???by Stopedog - Café LA Re: No Chong! - 14 years agoKozikowski Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Is there a log that lists the services that failed > and which ones are important enough to kill the > chong? The ability to easily move them forward or backward on the timeline, and the ability to extend or de-extend them. I know we can do half of that now (moving them forward or extending) but it is not very intuitive. I like the way they look in soundtrack...nice and big...very hard to miss!by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Re: The ability to use MP3s in the timeline without the thing beeping like crazy! - 17 years agoderekmok Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I did a scan through all 10 pages of this Features > Request thread and never found this following > one...bizarre: > > The ability to use MP3s in the timeline without > the thing beeping like crazy! > YES...you can do it in iMovie...why not FCP???by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Wish list for FCP 6.0 - some more - 17 years agosome more: Playhead scrolls with timeline (soundtrack pro does it) allow FCP to upsample CD audio upon import instead of the itunes workaround make FCP applescriptable make the CTI stay centered when zooming while using ANY of the zoom options the ability to group a selection of clips together (without nesting) allow the naming of tracks (again soundtrack pro does it) show what the fontsby Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Toggle filters on/off a-la After Effects - 17 years agohow about a master switch to toggle filters on/off similar to after effectsby Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Re: Background Rendering - also want distributed rendering - 17 years agoMark19 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > rendering in the background while still being able > to work would be one. in addition to mark's request...distributed rendering to a server.by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Keyframe editor in FCP similar to Motion - 17 years agoHow about a keyframe editor in FCP similar to Motion. A tab on the timeline with ease in/out controls that aren't clunky.by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Retain last export settings -- also -- Auto Mixdown on Export - 17 years agoHow about a preference item to remember the last settings used (i.e for export). Also how about a checkbox in the prefs to always mixdown audio on quicktime export.by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Option to lock keyframes while slipping clips - 17 years agoIf you have a clip that you have keyframed in some way, then you need to slip the clip, the keyframes move with the clip. How about an option (say holding the apple key) that would keep the keyframes stationary but still allow you to slip the footage?by Stopedog - FCP Feature Requests Re: OT: Is it me or Share has always been there? - 14 years agoDoes Shane's self steam erupt like a geyser or a volcano?by Stopedog - Café LA Re: import a audio track from a CD - 14 years agonope. It still works in iTunes 9. I am a big fan of Digital Heaven's Loader. Compiles the steps of converting it in iTunes or compressor into one drag and drop movement. Big time-saver!by Stopedog - Café LA Re: The "NEW" Final Cut Studio: Helpful Links FAQs and other Goodies - 14 years agoIs it me, or did the colors in FCP 7 change slightly? The difference between a selected window or tab is now more pronounced.by Stopedog - Café LA Re: The "NEW" Final Cut Studio: Helpful Links FAQs and other Goodies - 14 years agoThis list is by no means complete. I just compared the FCP tech specs on v6.0 and v7.0. Editing and Timeline - Multi colored markers for sequences and clips - Ripple sequence markers - Matchframe for master clips, subclips, and subclip parent clips - Multi-Touch gesture support - Color-coded, drag-and-drop reorder of tabs in the Timeline - Close Other Tabs shortcutby Stopedog - Café LA Re: Cool tool - 14 years agoderekmok Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > "Impactful" is a word that gets thrown at me on a > regular basis. I haven't installed the update yet. I was just comparing the tech specs from 6.0 to 7.0. There may be some things I missed, or some things that were added somewhere between 6.0 and 6.0.6. Reveal clip in finder isn't new to FCP 7, but reveal project in finder is a new feature. Have you tried copying the SDHC card to your external media through the use of a USB SDHC card reader. Once the media is aboard your media drive, you can open up Log and Transfer, point it to the media location, and begin the logging process.by Stopedog - Café LA Re: OT: any significance to the timecode on the FCP startup screen - 14 years agoThe first response was funny, everything else were copycats...but that's hollywood for you!!!by Stopedog - Café LA Re: why cannot open .avi?????? - 15 years agoyou might also try the freeware Perian. It installs as a control panel in system preferences and gives you avi, flash, and support for many other codecs. It works with quicktime and final cut pro. One caveat, if you are bringing in AVCHD footage, you need to temporarilly switch off perian. It is easily done with one-click. Then after bringing in your files (via log and transfer) you can switcby Stopedog - Café LA Re: OT: R.I.P. If you are doing DV, the mac mini will be fineby Stopedog - Café LA Re: OT: New Nehalem Mac Pros Released!!! - 15 years agothe 4870 looks nice until you see the 4870 X2 with 2GB of DDR5 ram. Apple is always lagging behind PC's in terms of gfx cards. I will nonetheless buy a new MacPro to replace my 8 yr old G4. I think I have waited long enough!!!by Stopedog - Café LA Re: FCPUG Supermeet - 15 years agoI agree 100% with everything you said. I didn't expect FCS3 (probably closer to NAB) but thought maybe they would release a 6.06 or something.
