Cheers Philby Phil UK - Café LA Macbook Pro circa 2008 black screen NVidea problem. - 13 years agoI have a Mac book Pro, the screen has ceased to light up when turned on. From what I can gather this is down to a graphics card defect (NVidea) with machines built around 2008. This is a scarey scenario, I've had this machine for 3 years. No clues. Photo Jpeg looks better to me.by Phil UK - Café LA A better quality Export. - 13 years agoThis has been an on going FCP 6.5 issue - I am working on a long form project that has to go to DVD. It is a mainly DV PAL format - some XD CAM and a lot of Titles and Stills. I have always been unhappy with the Titles when exporting as DV PAL. Previously I was told that GFX titles and the color and quality of the footage can be problematic when using and exporting DV PAL. Cheers Phil.by Phil UK - Café LA compressor suddenly very slow?? - 14 years agoI am going from FCP 6 with a macbook pro running leopard with 4 gb RAM. The project is a 1 hour film exported as quicktime DV PAL into Compressor using best DVD setting. Previously Compressor took about an hour or so. I made some additions exported into compressor and the process now seems to be taking half a day? Help me please. Cheers Phil.by Phil UK - Compressor - Media Compression and Conversion Re: FCP to Compressor to iDVD? No audio?? - 14 years agoThanks Jeff. It's not patronizing at all, I'm not totally familiar with compressor. I have never been in the position of making a decent dvd. I had gathered that mpeg 2 was the best format for dvds and have gone that route noticing along the way that mpeg 2's look great. I have a movie that is 13 Gbs as DV PAL straight out of FCP. Are there more preferable formats for dvd other than mpeg 2by Phil UK - Café LA Re: FCP to Compressor to iDVD? No audio?? - 14 years agoThanks Jeff. When you say drag settings into batch que, I'm not clear. I have set the destination to desktop and always get one file, not seperate video and audio. I have no problem getting a DV PAL QT, but when I do the opening title (Impact Title 3D) looks rubbish. When I export from timeline using compressor to mpeg 2 program stream the title looks amazing but that's as far as it goes.by Phil UK - Café LA Re: FCP to Compressor to iDVD? I just did another test with idvd and still no audio using mpeg 2 program stream file????by Phil UK - Café LA Re: FCP to Compressor to iDVD? No audio?? - 14 years agoI tried DVDSP but just got a grey square upon completion even though internal encoder etc.. were doing their job. I tried idvd with mpeg 2 and that is where I lost the audio even though visually the results were astoundingly good. Also my file judders at the very beginning of the movie after coming out of compressor. This has happened twice. I have a sizable movie (one hour) in an FCP DV CAM project. I'm using compressor to make an mpeg 2 file. So far so good. Tried to export it into DVD Studio pro 4 and it would not have it. Put into idvd with those awful themes.. the dvd looks fantastic but there is no audio. The audio plays fine in idvd preview. Can't figure it out.
