Apply Filters to a group of Clips - 16 years ago
I would like to be able to apply filters to a group of clips simultaneously (when they are all getting the same treatment, naturally). Would save an enormous amount of hassle and time!by Chris Maher - FCP Feature Requests

hmm i'ts not doing anything for me. I got a change in the picture but not the right one by selecting what would appear to be the only possible codec I am just going to get my friend to show me how to edit in imovie cause it's not clear to me at all how to trim clips from the help in that program . . . thanks anyway!by Chris Maher - Café LA

Hi, I captured some HD footage using ImovieHD and have just imported it into FCP HD but it's squished horizontally. I tried doing the "easy setup" for DVC Pro 1080i60 but that only cropped the canvas cutting off the sides. . . can you advise please? thanksby Chris Maher - Café LA

I am using the same sorta connector to the firewire in... the camera is recognizing that it's hooked to the computer, "HDV/DV connection is showing in the viewfinder error message is: unable to locate apple firewire connection 720x480 Computer is Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 OS is 10.4.11 FCP PRO HD is 4.5 I notice on the apple website it says something about it being impossible toby Chris Maher - Café LA

it could be that this disc came with an intel chip later mac. . . actually... while mine is a power PC dual processor G5... I didn't get a disc with this bought it used. . . but I do have 3 panther install discs, perhaps that will work, I forget where these came from! the install disc I have been trying to use was lent to me.by Chris Maher - Café LA

hello, well I need for my mac to be reborn and... once I click "install" on the first install disc computer will not reboot. instead I get a notice in several languages saying I must reboot, but this only results in getting the same message. finally I unplugged to get out of this loop but then I still couldn't boot without getting the same thing (computer would boot with the discby Chris Maher - Café LA

yikes G tech prices start at 4x what I paid!e not sure if I can even reformat, the seller said that it was working with a mac, now says "well it's not mine it's my friends" ,. . . anyway for reformatting do I pick "mac os extended" plain or "journaled" or "case sensitive/case sensitive journaled"? ok I got it on ebay, maybe shouldn't have but this seller takes returns. I plug the thing into my G5 and while it shows up on desktop, can't drag anything onto it "the item cannot be moved because "LaCie" cannot be modified" anybody know what the heck is going on here?by Chris Maher - Café LA

strangely what seemed to be really gunking up the works is that I have begun dragging some stills into the timeline and. .. I think I dragged in a photoshop file that had layers. . . and this became unrenderable! got that message and found when I brought back in a flattened image it needed no rendering anyhoo!by Chris Maher - Café LA

deleted file called "final cut pro 5.0 pref" inside "final cut pro user data" inside folder "final cut pro user data" found inside preferences folder inside library. it didn't help should I delete the entire folder?by Chris Maher - Café LA

but how do I choose?? the only place I see the oppty to select anything referred to as "codec" is exporting as a QT movie there are some apple intermediate codec choices... aaple-I tells me the movie was: AAC, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz H.264 Decoder, 480 x 360, Millions the other info is just file location, TRT, window dimensions, FPS 13.2 so I'm thinking I could try expby Chris Maher - Café LA

I know it has something to do with codec but I have no idea what that means or what I"m using. I have FCP 5.04 and I have been exporting for "high speed download" and beyond that I can't give you specifics. I will ask one of my recipients who got sound only to try upgrading the player...by Chris Maher - Café LA

Is there an easy way to export a film in the "high speed download" form such that it can be viewed on PCs without a hitch? some people tell me they are only getting the sound. I believe they are using Quicktime to open it, these folks. I have tried to use the method from the FAQ before but ran into problems with that.by Chris Maher - Café LA

I was exporting a movie for ipod with "quicktime conversion" and since that time when I export "to quicktime file" I'm getting a cropped image. which is the proper "setting" to plug in rather than "current settings" which seems to be remembering what I did with QT conversion? thanksby Chris Maher - Café LA

when I export to QT file and insert the new file into a timline I see the pan goes to -1, so I always just change it to 0. I have 2 tracks, so it's not like it's only sound on one side but it's the wrong sound overall, isn't it? Sounds better set at 0 at any rate.by Chris Maher - Café LA

Well, it does appear that one firewire port is busted and camera's ability to connect is kauput. Fortunately I have an old camera that can be dedicated to capture and hookup to monitor. Although it has a history on occasion of not wanting to eject tapes! Have another camera I have been meaning to repair. . . Well, you can bet it's the last time I make that mistake. I'm surprised nobody suggested unplugging machine awhile. I remembered it from days of yore when I often would lose my external drive and it worked to get the drive back, at least on the firewire port that wasn't violated.... Still haven't had any luck getting the camera to show up though. It seems ... intuitively unlikely that the cable could be all burned out, but maybe the contacts got bent orby Chris Maher - Café LA

yeah I shoudl not have tried plugging the camera into my laptop wtih the same cable... didn't come up there either . . have one computer left not screwed up yet, but . . . . it has trouble capturing anyway, really needs everything reinstalled I guess. maybe it's time to finally do that... yeah I jammed the thing in the wrong way it felt a little resistant to going in but not terribly. . .by Chris Maher - Café LA

I just did and now 2 computers are not recognizing the camera. Any idea whether I ruined the cable or the camera?! I guess I will certainly buy a new cable tomorrow and thus will know but if anyone could offer reassurance now... that's be great! I have the work area going all the way to the far right end of the timeline but composition stops short and starts over again when playing back. I have tried extending the window, but it doesn't give me any more of the clips, just pointlessly extends the window with the end point not changing. I checked the original clip to verify that yes, it's got another 30% or so to go . . . What'sby Chris Maher - Café LA
