I'm trying to finish the project with it. But I will need to upgrade to an Intel Mac, probably a Quad tower. Is there anything I need to know to make the transition with a heavily muticlip project?by dan chapman - Café LA Logic board gone during project - 14 years agoI have an important project with a lot of multiclip files and my computer just got fried. How do I assure the multis stay together when I get back up and running? Right now I'm on a loner computer and my internal hard drives have been swapped to the loner. But I will have to get a new computer now.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Import Files from FLASH animation - 14 years agoI also switched my audio sequence settings from 44.1 to 48 khz. Not sure what exactly the problem was, but it's working now.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Import Files from FLASH animation - 14 years agoOh yeah. I had to take the ProRes into Cinema Tools for it to work. I had been using Cinema Tools before that, but did not work.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Import Files from FLASH animation - 14 years agoThank you. I was getting all kinds of strange slow-mo, truncated files in FCP. Then I exported to ProRes 48khz and it worked.by dan chapman - Café LA Import Files from FLASH animation - 14 years agoI'm exporting a Flash animation as a Quicktime 30fps file NTSC 720 X 480. When I open the file in Quicktime, it plays fine and inspector says 30fps. But importing it to FCP it now 10fps and plays in slow-mo. What am I doing wrong? ?????by dan chapman - Café LA TELECINE 16mm - 14 years agoI'm having a 16mm 7" reel of old B&W footage digitized. The footage was shot in 1972. My docu is shot in mostly SD 24pa with a dvx100. I know (old school) but I started it six years ago. My timeline is DV 720 X 480, 23.98 anamorphic. My question is, what format should the film be converted? It might be the only time this footage will be digital, so I thought it would be good to have iby dan chapman - Café LA Re: PAL into NTSC doc - 14 years agoNow I'm told that they can't find a 25p camera and can only obtain a pal 25i 16:9 camera. She's up in the hills in Italy. I will make calls to see if I can get a 25p camera up there but if I can't... Am I screwed?by dan chapman - Café LA Re: PAL into NTSC doc - 14 years agoIs 25p the same as a normally set PAL camera, or is that a special progressive setting?by dan chapman - Café LA Re: PAL into NTSC doc - 14 years agoI've already shot everything at 24PA. I know the Teranex would be the best way to go, but I'm under a budget constraint right now.by dan chapman - Café LA PAL into NTSC doc - 14 years agoSomeone in Italy is offering to shoot an interview for my documentary, but they can't get an NTSC camera (I shot in NTSC SD 24p 16:9 Anamorphic for it). Will I be able to incorporate PAL footage into my FCP timeline or am I just asking for trouble. ??? Someone suggested converting the footage through Mpeg Streamclip first. I need to figure out a solution next week.by dan chapman - Café LA group audio sliders - 14 years agoMaybe this sounds like a dumb question, but I need to know how to group two or more audio slider, so they can be controlled in real time mixing. I'm on deadline, and I can't seem yo find the answer in the manuals. I know about option L. When I group two sliders that way I get a stereo mix, automatic hard left and right. ??by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Black Bar at bottom for subtitles - 14 years agoThanks. I did read the manual, but must have skipped over this part.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Black Bar at bottom for subtitles - 14 years agoThank you so much. I couldn't get the "C" key to work. When I went to the canvas the cursor didn't change. But the alternative crop i motion did the trick.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Black Bar at bottom for subtitles - 14 years agoSorry. How do you crop it?by dan chapman - Café LA Black Bar at bottom for subtitles - 14 years agoI'm trying to finish a cut on deadline and I am stumbling on trying to create a simple black band at the very bottom so I can center my subtitles on top of it... help!!!by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Mixing EX-3 with DVX100 footage - 15 years agoThanks for the reassurance. I've had a bias against SONY products because I had a nightmare experience a fews years back with a SONY digital camera not being able to interface with a Mac. Haven't used them since.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Mixing EX-3 with DVX100 footage - 15 years agoI realize I need to use the HD footage. What I'm concerned with is Sony?s XDCam format. And mixing it with my DVX100 SD footage in a DV timeline. I have no idea how to work with the XDCam stuff. I just looked up some info about editing with this format and it looks like I might be in for some hassles.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Mixing EX-3 with DVX100 footage - 15 years agoIt will be shot at the same frame rate 24p.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Mixing EX-3 with DVX100 footage - 15 years agoWhat is the workflow to convert MPEG-2 into a DV timeline? Is this a difficult way to go?by dan chapman - Café LA Mixing EX-3 with DVX100 footage - 15 years agoIs it asking for trouble to mix EX-3 footage with DVX100 footage? I'm scheduled to shoot with an EX-3 for the first time tomorrow. My documentary has exclusively been shot with a DVX100 for a few years. (In 24PA anamorphic mode, using an anamorphic adapter lens). I want the new footage in HD, because I'm doing an aerial sequence. I have the choice of going with an EX-3 or the HVX200 rental.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: MIXING SD AND HD in same timeline - 15 years agoHere's another hard choice I need to make now (we shoot Sunday): We have the option of using an HVX200 or an EX-3 for shooting the new HD footage. The EX-3 is a better camera, but considering that I'll be mixing it with all my DVX100 footage, editing both together, is it crazy to mix my SD DV material with MPEG-2 footage?by dan chapman - Café LA Re: MIXING SD AND HD in same timeline - 15 years agoShane Ross Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > YES, 23.98 is more > stuttery and slightly blurrier than 60fps. Anyone? Here's the request I received from my cinematographer: "I suggest that we shoot this at 720x60p. If we shoot it at 24p, it will be blurry. This always happens with action or moving subject. It will look different than the stuff shot at 24p, but you can work with that in post. Also, it won't be drasby dan chapman - Café LA Re: MIXING SD AND HD in same timeline - 15 years agoNow my cinematographer wants to shoot 720 X 60p. Everything else in my docu is shot SD 24pa with the anamorphic adapter. But we are doing an aerial shoot and he says 24p looks bad with action or moving subjects. This will be a helicopter shot using a gyro. My new question: Am I asking for trouble mixing SD 24pa anamorphic with HD 60i? And how should I down-convert the HD?by dan chapman - Café LA MIXING SD AND HD in same timeline - 15 years agoI'm going to shoot some new footage using HD for my 5-years-in-the-making documentary. Everything I've shot so far has been using the DVX100 24pa with the anamorphic lens adapter. All my timelines have the anamorphic box checked. I'm planning an aerial shot now and want to shoot with a better camera resolution, but I'll need to mix it with the older stuff. I've never done this. How are the twoby dan chapman - Café LA Re: Timeline/Viewer distort and playback trouble - 15 years agoI recently trashed preferences for another issue and it had no effect. I don't like trashing them so often.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Timeline/Viewer distort and playback trouble - 15 years agoI'm not sure about the term flags. But nothing is anamorphic. That's the first thing I checked in Item Properties. It looks like the anamorphic is checked on the slug, but it's not. And it's only happening in the viewer.by dan chapman - Café LA Re: Timeline/Viewer distort and playback trouble - 15 years agoHere's a snapshot upload of my problem. The slug is selected above the long clip. The slug is 40% opacity so you see the stretched image under it in the viewer. Why is it stretching it?by dan chapman - Café LA |
