I may jump to the Shake forum and investigate that option as well. Thanks again.by knuckles - Café LA Re: Pan's Labyrinth Style Transitions - 16 years ago(Nudge nudge) Unfortunately the company I do most of my projects for is quite cheap, which is why I'm trying to figure this out on my own. Thanks for the tips though. Your footage looks great. As for Pan's Labyrinth, you should check it out. Great use of this type of effect and many others. This can be done rather crudely with a simple wipe. I was wondby knuckles - Café LA Re: How did they edit that speed ramp shot in "300"? - 16 years agoThanks guys. I'll try to dig up that Cinefex issue.by knuckles - Café LA Stylized Edits - 18 years agoI was just wondering if anyone had any idea how to perform two kinds of edits. 1) The kind of transiation that burns out, or over exposes from the brightest points of an outgoing image, goes to white, then goes gradually from over exposed to the normal incoming image. I've tried with additive dissolve and the like, but can't really get the proper effect. Are these effects produced in camera?by knuckles - Café LA Anyone know some good books on staging fight scenes? - 18 years agoI know there's one coming out by the guy that did the choreography for the Matrix, which is coming out in 2006. Anyone know of any out there now? Cheers, Andrewby knuckles - Café LA HOw to Convince PC people that macs and FCP are better - 18 years agoI'm trying to convincve the company that I'm working for that buying an apple system with final cut studio is a much better solution than the premire sysytem we have now. I'm looking for the cheapest option available that would be able to control and capture SD betacam. Any reasons that you can think of would be greatly appreciated. I'm sick of using preimire.by knuckles - Café LA Re: seperating .WAV Audio - 18 years agoOption-l did the trick. I misread your first post, Derek. Thanks again guys. This project would be 2 weeks late if not for this forum.by knuckles - Café LA Re: Exporting 80 mi video for DVD - 18 years agoI tried to use the dv 48k quicktime setting, but a message came up that said; "general error." I then tried the dv50 ntsc 48k and that worked. However, the look after rendering is stretched wide. Was wondering if anyone knows why 1) I got the error message 2) the dv50 image is stretched. Help is much appreciated.by knuckles - Café LA Exporting 80 mi video for DVD - 18 years agoI'm about to export a 80 min long video. The final format will be DVD. I was wondering which export settings would be best. Thanks.by knuckles - Café LA Re: seperating .WAV Audio - 18 years agoI didn't capture the audio. I imported it. It's audio from a DAT, transferred to CD. The right side is vocals, the left side is music. BUt they're somehow fixed together. The simple linking/unlinking function in the timeline isn't working. Every time I adjust the levels in audio mixer from the tool bench, the two tracks aren't independantly adjustable.by knuckles - Café LA seperating .WAV Audio - 18 years agoI'm editing a project, and have imported audio recoreded by DAT at the site. The DAT tape has voice on one track, and music on another. When editing, I can only manipulate them together, altough the different content is on each track. Basically, I need to take the music up and down in places and the voices up and down in places, but can't seem to manage. Any help is greatly appreciated.by knuckles - Café LA Re: S-Video from beta cam to DV - Quality? - 18 years agoThanks. I'll brave the storm for now.by knuckles - Café LA Re: Is it possible to capture with Adobe Premiere, and then import the files to - 18 years agoThanks everyone for all the help. However, I've started the project now, and am having problems with capturing. I'm running S-Video to my Panasonic DVX-100a and then firewiring to powerbook and capturing with FCP. However FCP is looking for a timecode that seems to be non existant. Is this a setting issue with FCP or my camera that needs to be resolved?by knuckles - Café LA Re: S-Video from beta cam to DV - Quality? - 18 years agoThanks everyone for all the help. The footage is a live show put on by a subsidiary of Disney, shot with 4 cameras. I've done a multi cam shoot with DV before and the result was good enough to sell DVDs. It should be good enough, I'm thinking. Going to a production house to capture will eat into my profits quite a bit.by knuckles - Café LA Re: Is it possible to capture with Adobe Premiere, and then import the files to - 18 years agoEnd product will be a DVD. Am I correct in assuming the quality will remain as good as anything shot on DV?by knuckles - Café LA S-Video from beta cam to DV - Quality? - 18 years agoDoes anyone know whether running the S-video from a betacam deck to a DV then capturing through the firewire to FCP on my laptop would cause a lot of loss? Replies appreciated.by knuckles - Café LA S-Video solution? - 18 years agoI suppose that the conversion process would be a messy option. Does anyone know whether running the S-video out of the betacam and into a DV then capture through teh firewire to FCP on my laptop would cause a lot of loss? Replies appreciated.by knuckles - Café LA Re: Is it possible to capture with Adobe Premiere, and then import the files to - 18 years agoMuch thanks for the tips. Am I correct in assuming the conversion process won't result in a loss of quality? The final product will be sold as a DVD so I'd prefer as little loss as possible. And Derek, you're right. Unfortunately, the company I work for insists in using PCs, so that's why the files will be AVI in premeire.by knuckles - Café LA Varying the speed of a clip - 18 years agoI was wondering how one can vary the speed of a clip so that it plays at normal speed, then slows down and speeds up again. Cheers.by knuckles - Café LA Is it possible to capture with Adobe Premiere, and then import the files to FCP? - 18 years agoMy company uses premiere software to edit and capture beta cam SD, but I want to edit the latest project using my personal copy of FCP. Does anyone know how this transfer would take place without incurring considerable loss of quality? I mean, can the AVI files that premiere encodes AV into be imported to FCP without loss? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.by knuckles - Café LA Betacam Capture - 18 years agoMy company is finally making the switch from PC to mac for vdeoediting. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the cheapest, but still reliable option to import betacam. I've looked at the decklink option and was wondering if anyone had experience with it.
