However, the result wasn't exactly what I had in mind. The exploding glass acts more like a wipe. How can I tell my video to take on the same attributes of each individual exploding glass particle (ie rotate, scale, etc...)? I've used the explode CGM filter before and that's more or less what I'm after. Once again, all help greatly apby ericg - Motion Re: Streaking effect - 17 years agoI just pulled this one off myself. Basically what you want to do is use Motion Blur on your text combined with the Trails effect as Adolfo mentioned. However, Motion renders effects before Motion blur, so you first need to prerender your motion blured text as its own element, and then add the Trails effect. That should do it. Ericby ericg - Motion Creating a Drop Shadow in Motion - 17 years agoWhat is the best way to create a dropshadow using Motion? I realize Shake is probably my best option but I'm not very familiar with the software yet. If Motion isn't the answer, what is? Help appreciated. Eric G.by ericg - Motion Optimizing FCP Performance - 17 years agoMy goal is to optimize the performance of FCP (including Motion, DVDSP, etc...). Currently, I am running FCP Suite 5.1 on a 2.5 GHz G5 with 2.5GB of RAM. Until I did a little research, I've always been under the impression that the more RAM the better. I recently came across the following statement "Adding more RAM beyond 2 GB won't make a material difference, because FCP is disk-based, notby ericg - Café LA 32bit float space - 17 years agoI'm having some trouble wrapping my brain around the concept of float space. As an experiment, I rendered out a sequence (video originated from dvcpro50 timeline) with some text and graphics in both 32 and 8 bit float space. I opened both renders in Quicktime but found a negligible differnce in quality...actually no difference. Should rendering a 32bit vs 8bit composite improve the quality oby ericg - Motion Replicating Rendered Element - 17 years agoI've created a fairly simple animation that I rendered out and re-imported back into Motion. It's got some glowy effects and a little random motion. The problem, once I replicate my pre-rendered animation I still get the black background attached to my object? How do I get around this? I've played around with the output settings and alpha type but nothing seems to do the trick. Ericby ericg - Motion LCD vs Plasma - 17 years agoI'm considering purchasing a LCD or plasma somewhere in the 42" and up range (give clients a nice big screen to look at). I've done some research and I am now trying to wiegh the pro's and con's of each technology. I saw Panasonic released a new line of plasmas that look really nice (TH-42PHHD8UK). I'm feeling inclined to go with the Plasma...any advice? I realize LCD technology has comeby ericg - Café LA Solution for Intel/Power PC workstation - 17 years agoI am planning on upgrading my edit bay once the new Intel G5 desktop's are available. My plan is to use the Power PC machine I am currently working on as a graphics station and use the new Intel machine as my primary workstation. My question is, will this pose any serious problems (i.e. integration b/w Power PC Motion app and FCP Intle app)? Thanks for the input. Ericby ericg - Café LA Generating TC with AJ-SD93 deck - 17 years agoTo whomever is familiar witht the Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck, here's my situation. I just finished cutting a spot that needs start on the hour. The SD93 deck I am currently working with is only setup to transmit video via firewire. The question I have is, what are the steps to generate TC manually from the deck so I can set an In point for my assemble edit (and ideally create a preset for this funby ericg - Café LA Exporting discreet channels of audio to tape - 18 years agoI need to export discreet channels of audio to tape for backup. I've already exported my full stereo broadcast mix. Ideally I'd like to export VO, NAT audio, SFX, and MUSIC discreetly (one of the passes w/o graphics). What is the best way to pull this off (assuming I will have to make changes in the future)? My SFX and MUSIC are stereo so I am assuming this will take up 4 tracks on the firsby ericg - Café LA Re: SDI/Analog Card for DVCPRO 50 Deck - 18 years agoThe majority of my work is primarily for internet, DVD, etc... However, I would like to get my hands on more broadcast material in the future. I am considering adding a card and possibly purchasing a digibeta deck down the line as a means of expanding my services and ultimately saving some money. In the past, when necessary, I used a dub house. So what do you think...make the investment? Apprby ericg - Café LA SDI/Analog Card for DVCPRO 50 Deck - 18 years agoIn a nutshell, what are the benefits to adding either optional card to the DVCPRO 50 Deck? Not having done much broadcast work, mastering to beta or digibeta hasn't been a part of my workflow. Other than those added benefits, why else would I consider spending close to $2000.00 for either card? Thanks all.by ericg - Café LA |
