Why one flickers and the other does not... - 17 years agoYeah. I am still reeling from Koz's reply But I fully undersand now. Its funny because I have been an advanced user of FCP for a few years now and this is such a fundamental concept which I made an assumption about years ago and its always 'sort of' worked but at the back of my mind i knew something about my assumption wasn't quite right. Your collective contributions have cleared this rightby Cheesenightmare - Café LA Re: A doozey! Why one flickers and the other does not... - 17 years agoKoz. You have moved me to tears. That was, is, will probably forever remain the most articulate forum reply I have ever recieved and if you don't mind, I will tell it to my children before bed time if i ever have any and Hi-Def still hasn't caught on in Australia by then. Live happily ever after, sir. Doug_by Cheesenightmare - Café LA Re: A doozey! Why one flickers and the other does not... - 17 years agoThanks Koz, I hope you stick with me on this cos I'm almost there but not quite. First you said: >It has to happen at the timeline because If you do Item Properties in the Viewer from the Bin, it's the same size as the import.< but then you say: >If those first two numbers aren't 720 by 480, then Final Cut is going to have to do picture management at the import step and you may not lby Cheesenightmare - Café LA Re: A doozey! I would have thought that something scanned at a higher DPI will withstand being blown up better than something scanned at a lower DPI - provided the resampling happens during the scaling up process and not, for example, during the import into final cut process. Why one flickers and the other does not... - 17 years agoHey there Martin, As far as i am concerned you are perfectly correct. I considered you answer and tried it out on several different pictures. I am convinced you are the, as they say, man. Thanks for your well expressed insight. I think what I really had to get my head around was that it is somewhere between the detail in the red car picture and the detail in the blue car picture that the detby Cheesenightmare - Café LA Re: A doozey! The ball is rolling Here's my thoughts on the replies thus far... ____________________ "Author: wayne granzin im no expert, but the porsche is a MUCH softer orginal picture, which may account for less jaggies in the DV realm?" Why one flickers and the other does not... - 17 years agoHi all - I run a Final Cut Pro group in Sydney Australia and I just can't wait to get some feedback on the little X-file I got from one of my members (name of Jim85) First, here's Jim85's Pic Now Here's a very similar (in size and resolution) pic Bring both onto a DV Pal Timeline in final cut and the blue car gives us substantially more flicker on a monitor. I am originally from there. But Yes, Based in Sydney now. Cheers, Doug_by Cheesenightmare - Café LA Re: Character length limit in description field - 17 years agoThank you for your reply - I suspected that would be the case. I had a question from a collugue who is using an older version of FCP (3) and entered what should have been log notes in the description area. FCP let her enter the information, but then truncated it at the logging stage. She didn't realise it was happeneing and later went back to look at her 'notes' only to find they had been chopby Cheesenightmare - Café LA Character length limit in description field - 17 years agoDoes anyone know if there was a character limit on the description field in log and capture? Or perhaps if there was in previous versions fo FCP but not anymore? Thanks Doug_by Cheesenightmare - Café LA |
