I also have to cut in one of two shots of DV footage that are 720x480. Should I have my FCP sequence setting's Field Dominance set to Progressive being that 95% of this project consists of 720p footage that has been confby Rich Johnson - Café LA Re: Adjusting bleeding red video - 17 years agoYes I'm shooting NTSC. Yes I check the DVD on a couple televisions. I do see a bit of difference on each TV I view it on, but it's still a problem that's not as pronounced on my broadcast monitor. Thanks for the analysis. I kind of figure it was a tough nut to crack. Good to get some feedback to ease my mind. I'll check out the Pleasantville technique and investigate the filters Graeme mentions.by Rich Johnson - Café LA Adjusting bleeding red video - 17 years agoHowdy folks... The checks have cleared. The discs are burned. I'm shooting DV on the JVCHD100...Performers are in red customers on a lit stage in an auditorium. Sometimes a spotlight is shining down on a performer in a red custom. For the most part the iris of camera was adjusted from Open to 2.8 during the course of the event. Video isn't exactly what I would call blown out, buby Rich Johnson - Café LA Updating from FCP 5.0.4 - 17 years agoPerfectly happy with 5.0.4, but for future reference where can I update to 5.1? Do I have to pay for the 5.1 update or is it available somewhere on the Apple site for free? I know the 5.1.2 update was released a couple weeks ago and had some issues. Thanksby Rich Johnson - Café LA Re: HDV Audio Sync issues when capturing - 17 years agoThe JVC has a switch that lets the firewire cable or component outputs know what's coming from the tape. If you shoot HDV or DV with the camera the switch needs to be adjusted to the format in order for the tape to be output to the computer, external monitor, etc... The downconvert actually happens through the capture card or firewire cable, because if I was to shoot HDV and decided to click tby Rich Johnson - Café LA Re: HDV Audio Sync issues when capturing - 17 years agoThanks to both. Michael-I have a master's degree in making things complicated at 3AM. I need to get back to a LAFCPUG meeting to retain my sanity and bring balance to the universe. I'll be sure to try out the Apple Codec in FCP 5 instead of using the Kona DV codec when needing to downconvert HDV to DV. I did get my audio problem fixed by reimporting the footage last night. I will sayby Rich Johnson - Café LA HDV Audio Sync issues when capturing - 17 years agoHDV is being captured through Kona LH as DV using their DV preset. I'm essentially converting some HDV footage to DV so it can be edited with other DV footage already captured. When viewing my captured footage I'm noticing everything seems in sync at the beginning, but by the end of the 45 minute capture my audio is about 1 second ahead of my video. Getting off track the question now is justifying how to best get 150 DVD burned and printed more efficiently in the future. This last time was 1 at a time in a 16x burner. What patience. Flooded 150 inkjet printable DVDs with ink over the last three days to make labels and only used up about 35% of the ink cartridges. Discus EP software included. Simple stuff. Nice results. When recently capturing some footage shot as 720/30p and ingested using the Kona LH 59.94 DVCPRO HD preset and also when trying a few other capture presets I noticed my video comes in OK, but the audio is sped up twice as fast as it should. I've done this a few times before, but memory doesn't serve me. Angles 1 or 2 has been assigned to 4 clips. 2 cams with 2 reels. All four reels are lined up using Aux timecode 1 as I had to adjust timecode for two of the tapes. Multiclip has been made and dragged to the viewer. When hitting play I watch the clips, but when selecting a different angle withby Rich Johnson - Café LA |
