Anyway, after looking at the edit and deciding to alter it a bit, everytime i try and extend an edit with a filter on, or put the same filter on a new clip i get the 'your hardware cannot reby Jules - Café LA Re: Sound sync issues with FCP... and weird at that. - 15 years agoUpdate: morning Ok, i did somew more reading online this morning in other forums and experimented with my preferences and got the following: If in my playback output the video is set to Firewire PAL and the sound is set to Built in line output, the sound drifts out of sync (the latency from Jeff's post above). If the video is set to Digital Cinema Desktop Preview and the sound to Buiby Jules - Café LA Re: Sound sync issues with FCP... and weird at that. - 15 years agoThe thing is, on my first gen mac pro, and my G5 before that, I never experienced this in 5 years. I don't hvae an external broadcast monitor set up (i know i should but i'm lacking room and nothing i do goes out on TV but rather dvd). I had a thought, i also updated to all the patches the mac found online so it's running the latest FCP and OS patches.by Jules - Café LA Re: Sound sync issues with FCP... and weird at that. - 15 years agoIf it helps any, it looks like the picture is slightly behind the sound, and it's only a fraction, so maybe a frame or two.by Jules - Café LA Sound sync issues with FCP... and weird at that. - 15 years agoHi all. Ok, recently bought a new mac pro (like yesterday) and reinstalled my FCP suite 2. In fact I had to because my last one broke and i couldn't be without a machine for 10 days (plus having a back up seemed like a sensible idea), so i put my 3 additional HDs in the new one and am using the same equipment/software from the last... which worked perfectly. For example, with the CHV plugins i have it places them into default folders with different titles, but i'd like to put all those seperate folders into a single CHV folder. And with other plugs i have gotton free, someby Jules - Café LA Re: Equipment insurance? - 16 years agoJust in case anyone from England pops in this thread and is looking for an answer: i work from home, so my contents insurance won't cover my camera equipment (what a surprise... but that's another rant). The only company i found who would insure my camera equipment (including a laptop when i initially started) for accidental damage in the field and from being stolen at home or from a car was Pby Jules - Café LA Re: HDV deck - 16 years agoThanks Chuck, appreciate the time and acknowledgement that HDV may well work for me. The two dexks you mentioned I have come across and the M15U is the one i was considering if I couldn't find a cheaper viable option. Craig also appreciate your comments but for me I am fortunate enough to do it all on my mac so yep I can find a deck that fits with my camera, and in a selfish way that's reallyby Jules - Café LA Re: HDV deck - 16 years agoThanks both for your input, will take it on board. I'm going to have to have a look at the finished result of the HDV material as it may be more agro than it's worth considering what you've suggested. SD has stood me well so far, but the rushes did look crisper in HDV (or perhaps my use of the A1 is actually improving). Any further comments or opinions will be read and appreciated, but thanksby Jules - Café LA HDV deck - 16 years agoHi all, hopefully you can help. I have searched in the forums and done a bit of research via google and have a rough idea of what i need, but your experience is always an invaluable resource as well. I use FCP Studio 2 on a macpro and a canon XH-A1. I have just started trying out the HDV side of the A1 and quite liked the footage. Obviously I had to use the A1 to capture the rushes and if I caby Jules - Café LA Re: Media Fork - 16 years agoCan I just add (and ask if i'm reducing quality too much by doing it this way) when I need to capture a video i made but don't have a copy other than on dvd I record it from my dvd player onto my camera and then capture the mini-dv. Is this foolish? Taby Jules - Café LA 6.0.2 upgrade - 16 years agosorry to start a new post, but having read the other i was wondering if it was safe to install the new upgrades? i'm figuring you guys may have tested it and i'm happy to listen to your advice. i read you can't use 6.0.2 files in 6.0.1 but i've been running 6 and if i upgrade will my current projects still be fine? thank you. Julesby Jules - Café LA Re: Final Cut Studio updates out - 16 years agoSo, is it safe to install all the upgrades? thank you Julesby Jules - Café LA HDV shaky in SD DVD...? - 16 years agoThe short story is I cocked up, recorded something in HDV and only use FCP HD (at the mo). I managed to capture it in iMovie (can't believe I had a use for iMovie), then increased the clip size to about 130% and all was well. Now, after dropping the HDV clips into the sequence and exporting to DVD, those clips are really shaky (is this where the term artifacts is meant to go?). Didn't think of that. Still crucial.com do 2 x 1GB sticks for £103 inc so not terrible, and i guess the G5 will then be for sale with 4.5gb of ram which makes it more appealing. Already there with the radion, read about it elsewhere as being good for editing. thanks againby Jules - Café LA Re: Am I living in the dark ages - 16 years agoActually, after doing some maths, deciding eating is over-rated and christmas is a good time to hibernate, i probably can leave the G5 sitting around for a while, so point taken and a good one. It is all very well having a swish new machine and software (and hmmm is it going to be swish) but, if it stops working, i won't get paid. I have an additional 750mb internal HD for my rushes and 1 G-Tech 500gb and 2 x Lacie 250GB external HDs for animations and SC files or disc images for storing or delivering my clients dvds. I don't have FCP6 yet so i don't really know what i'm talking about, but in theory this sounds like it might work. Julesby Jules - Café LA Re: everything has started slowing down - 16 years agoThank you both. Stupidly I have actually read the info in that link before, but it was a couple of years ago and, obviously, it had fallen out of my head. Appreciate the time. Julesby Jules - Café LA everything has started slowing down - 16 years agoHi all, not sure if anyone can help, but i thought i'd try. Over the last few days final cut has started dragging a lot. Whereas up till now response was quick and fluid suddenly there is a pregnant pause after everything i tell it to do, then it does it. I haven't changed anything recently. HDV footage needs to be SD, please read for more info - 16 years agoOk, I have managed to figure out (with the help of other tutorials by people who know stuff, so not really me) a work around to my stupidity. Basically, if i capture the footage in iMovie 5 and import it, i only need to magnify the footage to 55% (it imports at 40%) which retains the quality, and works. HDV footage needs to be SD, please read for more info - 16 years agojust to add, because i think i initially misunderstood something. when you say turn off the down conversion on my camera, i'm assuming you mean set the camera to HDV mode. Thing is, when i do that, FCP doesn't recogmise the deck. When I put the camera in SD mode, it does.by Jules - Café LA |
