Compressor cutting out frames - 12 years ago
Hello Using Compressor 3.5.3. I'm converting H264 960x480 animation quicktimes to prores LT 1920x1080 both at 24 fps. For some reason on certain clips one frame is being cut out of each shot. All of my clips have counters on them so easy to see that the last frame is being clipped out by compressor. I'm working in FCP7 editing 30fps clips on a 30fps timeline. I was just informed that we need to be working in 24fps and all the clips will be re-rendered at 24fps, also changing the frame size. Any ideas on how to make this move gracefully? Until I get my 24fps clips I will media manage my timeline clips to 24fps and then swap out the clips as they come in. Ah ha! 640x360. I work in half size till we get rendering on full sized clips 720. Is there a way to get the text that frame size with out it needing to be rendered?by emilyelaine - Café LA

Ok I set RT to Unlimited and then set the render percision to 8 bit YUV still red bar. No preset frame size on the title. ARGH!by emilyelaine - Café LA

So I'm pretty sure this is a dumb question. I've got FCP 7.0.3, Mac os 10.6.8 Quad-core Intel, 16 gb RAM. I've got a prores 422 HQ timeline and every time I put a simple title over black or over picture needs to be rendered. I have changed the RT to safe and unlimited both need rendering. What am I doing wrong. Why do I need to render a simple effect like that? If I just create a newby emilyelaine - Café LA
Match frame issue - 14 years ago
When I hit match frame on a clip on the time line it will bring up the original clip with the scratch audio. Even though I unlinked that audio and synced it with the recorded audio. Is there any way to match frame back to the synced clip not the scratch audio? Thanks, EMily FCP7 editing prores regular clips. Hello, Running fcp 7 on a quad core. When I export a quicktime if there are blank spaces on the timeline they are exporting as white frames/video instead of black. Is there a setting that I need to do in order for it to export black? Without having to go thru and filling all the spots with slug. Any help?by emilyelaine - Café LA

Hello, We are building an editing room with a second system for an assistant. We are getting a 30 TB drive and wondering what is the best way to connect the tower to two systems without having to buy 2 fiber cards. Should we use an ethernet connection? How slow would it be? Can we do it with Esata or mini SAS? I've never really set up a system like this so any suggestions would be greatlyby emilyelaine - Café LA

Sorry it wasn't a directory problem it said that unsupported media or invalid directory structure. I got the files on discs and the card from the camera has since been wiped. I'm thinking some meta data didn't get copied?by emilyelaine - Café LA

Hello, I have footage shot on Canon Vixia HF10. It produces AVCHD files with mts extension. I have FCP 6 running an intel mac powerbook. Log and transfer is saying invalid file type or invalid directory. Tried imovie and MPEG streamclip and the files won't open either. Just wondering if anyone has any solutions. I've got my log an transfer open and I need to transcode from red files to prores 1280x720p 23.98. The only options in the preferences are prores 422 hq and prores 422 but it transfers them to 2048x 1024. I have limited space on my drive. So just wondering where in fcp I can change these settings. Hello, So I've got a project that houses all our dailies, merged, and multiclips. When I open the project it comes up with something like 4,000 files that are media offline. I hit reconnect it finds some files and are able to reconnect them but some of the files have completely lost the relationship to the media so when I go to reconnect the file in the reconnect window it has a destinationby emilyelaine - Café LA

Hello, I've got quite the dilemma. So we shot with the red camera. I'm not too familiar. I'm jumping into the project midway through. We just got the system shipped to us and our main project opens fine. But other projects with dailies are opening with most of the clips not reconnecting and when they are in in the browser they are not marked as offline when I open the clips in the viewerby emilyelaine - Café LA

Vob audio problem - 17 years ago
I used Mac the Ripper to pull a trailer off a dvd to a vob file. Then tried to convert it to a quicktime but the sound doesn't work on anything I've converted. And it just won't let me convert the audio, but when I watch the clip with the vlc player it's there. I'm using compressor to convert files. Any idea what I should do?by emilyelaine - Café LA

So I talked to a data recovery service that worked on the drive. And said that some of xml files were corrupt and I'd need a codec for playing mxf files on Final Cut Pro. I'm doing a search but can't really find anything any ideas where I can get one?by emilyelaine - Café LA

Hi In Avid it's called clip consolidate. So I wondering how to do it in fcp. I need to duplicate a sequence's clips and move them into a new location but only what's being used on the timeline not the whole media clip. Any ideas?by emilyelaine - Café LA

okay so I figured out that it only happens when I desolve to black slug. Or if I keyframe the opacity to 0. I've tried several work arounds to achieve this but the same thing happens. I've also tried it on other time lines and I get the same problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Emby emilyelaine - Café LA

I've deleted it and re-inserted all the clips involved it has the same problem. I'm doing a cross dissolve from a clip to black slug then dissolve to another clip. I've tried some work arounds like keyframing the opacity from 100 to 0 but it still has this problem. What happens is when it dissolves to black right before it goes to black it will fade up to this pixelated negitive version of theby emilyelaine - Café LA

I'm working on a feature and my project is 86mb. I also have another project of some new clips at 5mb and the sound effects in another at 20mb. And I frequently have them all open at the same time it doesn't seem to have any problems. It does take a while to load up but if you spilt them it's about the same time.by emilyelaine - Café LA
problem with cross dissolve - 18 years ago
Hello, So my problem is this when I right click a cut and add a cross dissolve it doesn't play back smooth. Sometimes the last frame of the dissolve will have a frame or 2 of a weird dark outlined version of the first clip. FCP 5 G5 Dual Any ideas? Emby emilyelaine - Café LA
