You have been an invaluable resource. For anyone else trying to figure this out, go to: Library/audio/apple loops/apple loops for sound track pro/power fx loops/sound fx/sound fx for film and video. There you go, easy.by Mr. Malcolm - Soundtrack Pro stp sfx into fcp - 18 years agoThis is probably really simple, but can't seem to figure it out right now. Is there away to take stp sound fx and import them into fcp, to be placed where ever I please? I know you can export your whole project to sound track, but only need a few effects. So, if you know of a way to do this, please reply.by Mr. Malcolm - Soundtrack Pro Re: Probably something about audio I should already know - 17 years agoAlright, I figured it out. Before I was trying to import a AIFF directly from sound track pro into the audio tab in motion. From there, I was dragging it onto the timeline as a layer. For some reason this didn't work. So, instead I exported the original audio from FCP as a quick time conversion AIFF. I imported it into my "media" tab, and then dragged it into the small, horizontal barby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Probably something about audio I should already know - 17 years agoHi! So this is the first time I've tried using motion for a full on animation project. Everything has been working fairly well aside from one minor annoyance. I imported my audio that I'm aligning with the animation into the audio tab. Then I line it up and get to work. However, every time I close out, my audio disappears when I come back! It's still in my "Media" tab, but not my &quoby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Re: Can I save my animation? - 17 years agoYEah, I didn't know it would do that either. I didn't send it or anything though. I just had em both open at the same time. ANyway, I'm just going to start over. Thanks for all your help.by Mr. Malcolm - Motion Re: Can I save my animation? - 17 years agoI had photshop file open in motion and was animating it. Meanwhile, I decided make a minor tweak to the same file in PS. I minimized motion, did my work in PS on the same file, Then I saved and closed PS and went back to motion. When I maximized motion it had updated the graphic file and imported the few new layers I had made. It seemed to have bumped all my layers off and re-arranged everythingby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Can I save my animation? - 17 years agoSo, I did a ton of work in motion animating a bunch of layers I imported from photoshop. Then I switched back to photoshop Because I forgot to finish one graphic. I saved the file and then went back to motion. Unfortunately, Motion tried to update the ps file I had imported and moved all my layers out of order and out of sync. Is there a wat I can fix this? Will a revert to a previous save fix itby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Re: This can't be right - 18 years agoyeah, I'm starting to get the hang of it pretty good.by Mr. Malcolm - Motion This can't be right - 18 years agoOkay, this can't be right. Everytime I Duplicate one clip from a layer, it bumps everything down a whole other track. Eventually it gets out of control! What am I doing wrong?by Mr. Malcolm - Motion Re: FCP > Motion and then back again - 18 years agoHmmm... I guess I'll just work with it. Thanks.by Mr. Malcolm - Motion FCP > Motion and then back again - 18 years agoAlright, I'm wrapping up a project and want to export it to Motion for some final effects and color correcting. I selected my in/out points, right clicked, and then sent to motion. Everything looks fine in Motion, it has all the seperate clips just like my timeline. The only problem is when I go back to FCP, my timeline is just one fat motion clip. How do I bring it back from motion, still mainby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Re: Motion workflow question from a newy - 18 years agoHey, thanks alot. It could be that I accidentally went to the auto save folder (like I said, new to mac and motion).by Mr. Malcolm - Motion Motion workflow question from a newy - 18 years agoAlright, I'm brand new to both FCP, Motion, LAFCPUG, and Mac. I came from the Avid PC side. Anyway, I have a really basic question: I've been doing a couple of moving backgrounds and such in motion and then importing them into FCP to place behind my footage. Right now, I've been saving the motion files as .motn. Is this the right format or the best format to save these as? I'm just asking becauby Mr. Malcolm - Motion Really strange behavior - 18 years agoSystem: G5 dual 2.8, 4GB of RAM, 800GB hard drive, Mac osx X. I've had DVDSP for a couple months now and it's worked great until this morning. I'm just trying to build and burn a simple DVD using one of the given templates with 3 buttons. Any time I add a track, drop in a clip, adjust the menu, or do any simple task; I get the spinning beach ball of death and have to "force quit". Thisby Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Cool strobe effect - 18 years agoHey, my DVD has a cool strobe effect, except its not supposed to be strobing. I can't figure out what I did wrong. I exported from the timeline using compressor. Once inside compressor I chose DVD 90 min best qulity, mpeg 2 pass. For the audio, I chose AIFF. Then I just imported it into DVDSP and burnt. The whole DVD was a bunch of pictures with motion added to them. I had never repaired permission before, which I found out I should do after installing any major app. Thanks for replying.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Re: One simple Compressor question - 18 years agoWell, I was able to burn a beautiful DVD, no arrtifacts. Process: Used "export using Compressor" and exported directly from the timeline into compressor. Then selected mpeg 2 for the video, and AIFF for the audio. Encoded, imported to DVDSP and burnt. Thanks again for all the help.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Wierd DOS text - 18 years agoSo, it's about 11:00 PM and I'm sitting here watching my G5 burn a DVD. I'll check the root and search by date.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro One simple Compressor question - 18 years agoAlright, finally I was able to get my sequence into compressor (it took all night to encode). Where did the file go? On the first sequence I encoded, I didn't set the destination, so it remained as "source". What does this mean and where did it store the file? I feel like this question has a really obvious answer.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Re: Could you please check my DVD recipe? - 18 years agooh, duh. By the way, I ended up just using the "export using Compressor" feature. Seems to work. I tired making a self contained, uncompressed quick time movie, but when I tried to import it into comp. it gave me some kind of error message, don't remember what it was.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Re: Could you please check my DVD recipe? - 18 years agoThank you so much for responding. Convert to dolby digital? Hmmm, I'm not to worried about using up all my disc space, I've got 400GB and the project is only about 45min. I've already created all the menus, graphics ect. All I need to do is drop in the sequences and link them to the buttons. Thanks again.by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Re: Could you please check my DVD recipe? - 18 years agoBump...Anyone?by Mr. Malcolm - DVD Studio Pro Could you please check my DVD recipe? - 18 years agoAlright, first atempt at burning a DVD with FCP and DVD Studio Pro. I've done some reading, and I think I got a pretty good grasp on how it works. I just wanted to check to avoid any longer exports and such than necessary. So, I'm going create a quick time of my sequence (uncompressed 10-bit NTSC 48 KHz) "Make movie self-contained" is checked.
