The gain was up and no one noticed until we watched the footage. Needless to say, there is a dreadful amount of visual noise and it is really distracting. Any solution to take out the visual noise with FCP?? Thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA Re: Pacifist to Downgrade Quicktime - 16 years agoPacifist worked....Hallelujah! I don't know if there are any 'side-effects' yet, but I'll let you know if anything arises. Could it be anything else? I'm going to go ahead and give Pacifist a shot. I'll let you know if it works. This is what happened...I captured a lot of footage and ended up with many files with the extension -av. Now I know that that is bad, but at the time of capture I had no idea. I have been working for months with these files without any problems. I just opened my project and they are now all offline. The files are in my drive, but they won't open in quicktime or reby talkingeyes - Café LA Pacifist to Downgrade Quicktime - 16 years agoAre there any unforeseen problems after using Pacifist to downgrade from Quicktime 7.4.1? I'm about to do it, but don't want to get any other surprise problems. Thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA Re: -av problem...please help. - 16 years agoThanks for the response. I do have a little Sony Digital Handicam. If I use that to capture my Panasonic AMQ tapes, will it cause any problems for the tapes or playback? Thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA external drive space and options - 17 years agoI am currently living in Chile and have decided to edit something while I am here. I will be working with 10-20 hours of footage and will be cutting a 5-10 minute short. I have an iBook G4 OS 10.4.8 with 512 mb of memory and FCP 5.0. I have three quick questions. 1) Will my iBook G4 be able to handle this and function well enough? If I'm using an external drive for storing captured mateby talkingeyes - Café LA delivery specs? - 18 years agoWe are having an online editor do color correction on our FCP edited short film. They have asked for the 'delivery specs.' We are self-distributing DVDs and not broadcasting this at all. So we don't have anyone dictating the delivery specifications. We would like to have a MiniDV copy of the final output and just need to deliver a DVD copy to the replication house. It was shot on miniDV and cut on FCP 5.1. We are ready to online and are going to do a sound mix, but are unsure how extensive our visual online edit needs to be. It is my understanding that editing on FCP, we are at the best resolution possible (we are not going to hi def), so all we need is a coloby talkingeyes - Café LA DVD authoring/replication - 18 years agoWe would like to get 1,000 DVDs. We have been duplicating in-house using iDVD and a Memorex external drive. However, some people have experienced problems/glitches in our DVDs (even though they play fine on our DVD players and computers). If we give a replication place a DVD as a master, will we risk problems in our 1000 replications? Is it safer to give a miniDV master or does it make a diffby talkingeyes - Café LA Re: drop frame warning?? - 18 years agoI am shooting on the DVX100A in 24p mode. I have been told that all 24p shooting with the DVX100A should be non-drop frame. However, when I go into the Recording Set-up and TC Mode while in 24p, it shows DF and no option to change. What does this mean? Am I shooting in drop-frame or non drop and why is it defaulting to DF in 24p? Thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA Nattress help - 18 years agoI just tried using Nattress to convert my accidently shot 60i clips to conform with the other 24p shot footage in my timeline. The editing timebase is 29.97. The G Film Converter filter sped up the video clip and the audio does not match. Why is this happening? Thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA 24p settings please assist - 18 years agoI would like to make sure that these FCP settings are correct. I've shot 24p on the DVX100A. -In User Preferences, Timeline Options, I have Drop Frame checked (should it be unchecked?). -In Audio/Video Settings, both Sequence Preset and Capture Preset are DV NTSC 48 kHz (should it be DV NTSC 48 kHz- 23.98?). -The Editing timebase is 29.97 (should it be 23.98?). -The Device Control Pby talkingeyes - Café LA drop frame warning?? - 18 years agoI am confused about drop-frame versus non drop. As default, I've been working in FCP with drop-frame checked. I've shot on 24P which I am now learning is non-drop. What does this mean? I've been capturing and cutting with no problem. Now, I'm trying to capture footage logged on a different computer and it gives me this warning: 'You are about to capture drop-frame media to a non drop-frby talkingeyes - Café LA capturing from VHS - 18 years agoCan I capture VHS footage from a regular VHS player? I tried by connecting with RCA the VHS player to my minidv player, which is connected to my system through firewire. I set capture settings to 'non-controllable device' in log and capture. But there is still no communication to the log and capture window when I play the VHS. How do I use QT player to convert if I can't even open the file? thanks.by talkingeyes - Café LA windows media in FCP - 18 years agoI want to import a windows media player segment into FCP. I downloaded flip4mac and opened the windows media as a wvx which has the QT icon. When I click on the wvx, it says 'Error opening movie. This movie could not be opened.'
