Might be a nice learning experience. Thank you much, vwby vizwiz - Café LA Re: Any way to anchor a shot’s motion to another shot? - 9 years agoWhat I meant was, the shot of a girl is moving because the camera is moving (it's 'handheld style'). I can shoot the prop that needs to be next to her separately with same background and lighting, but there's no way I could match the movement. Reshooting with the girl is not an option... Thanks.by vizwiz - Café LA Any way to anchor a shot’s motion to another shot? - 9 years agoFCP7. Got a shot that’s missing an element. I could shoot that element, then use garbage matte to put it in. But the shot is moving, in every take. So I’d have to move that missing element every single frame to match the main shot. Is there any way to anchor it to something in the main shot, so it’d move along with it? Thank you, vwby vizwiz - Café LA Re: Any way to set overwrite instead of insert on drag to timeline? - 10 years agoThank you guys. Such a simple answer. Wish I got to work with pro's like y'all instead of amateurs (in attitude, anyway) before and behind camera in China. But hey, rent's cheap here. Happy cutting, nby vizwiz - Café LA Any way to set overwrite instead of insert on drag to timeline? - 10 years agoFCP7. I'm having to drag hundreds of clips to timeline. Annoyingly, they are often inserted, so everything in video and audio tracks has a gap, and I have to copy the clip, move timeline playhead, undo two steps and paste it back in, wasting a lot of time in the process. Dragging it to canvas onto 'overwrite' is not an option because I'd have to move playhead to where I want it every time, whicby vizwiz - Café LA Re: Any way to decrease the pixilation during dissolves? - 12 years agothank you for posting. i converted the sequence to prores and it already improved considerably. i will try to convert some of the 5D clips in compressor to the same and see what further difference it makes. even if it couldn't batch-reconnect, i could use the method on the next project. best regards, wvby vizwiz - Café LA Re: Any way to decrease the pixilation during dissolves? - 12 years agothank you much. changing the sequence compressor is easy, but the clips? there are hundreds, how would i go about doing that? apart from the dissolves, the d5 stuff looks good (not color-corrected yet): best, wvby vizwiz - Café LA Any way to decrease the pixilation during dissolves? - 12 years agoI?ve been away from FCP since version 5, at which time we used HVX200?s 720p, and I don?t recall this being and issue. I got a Canon 5D 1080p now, which should be better quality, but in any case, this isn?t just on the 5D footage, it has the same pixelization problem a still jpg image. Here's a grab:by vizwiz - Café LA Screwed up on 24PA vs. 24P - 16 years agoI?ve shot HD for a year and so it?s been too long to remember to shoot SD in 480i/24PA and NOT 480i/24P, which is what I did, unfortunately. The 24PA footage is nice and smooth, but the 24P is jagged and interlaced. De-interlacing or tools/remove advanced pulldown doesn?t really help. Is there anything else I can do? It?s FCP 5.1, the camera is HVX200. Somehow my post made it sound like I was looking for opinions on coverage, when I merely hoped for a few numbers that only somebody involved in a big-budget production would know. While I agree 100% that more is more, on the project I mentioned I am obviously the editor, so there isn't any disconnect between what is shot and what is expected when the footagby vizwiz - Café LA What is the shooting ratio in Hollywood films? - 16 years agoI am in post on a mini-feature (42 mins sans titles). With some 240 mins of total footage on my drive, that?s something like 1:6 ratio (6 minutes of footage for every minute of screentime). Now, I practically edit in camera. Every scene is meticulously broken down and storyboarded shot by shot as it will flow edited in final cut, and only those shots are shot, with almost zero coverage. Thank you, vwby vizwiz - Café LA Re: Aliasing ? random shots in an HD project - 16 years agoIt?s a mess. Some shots that play clear in FCP are aliased when exported, some aren?t. Some that weren?t pixilated in FCP a week ago now are. Anything that plays pixilated in FCP remains so in .mov or H.264. Overlays disabled, all rendered, no green or yellow. Thank youby vizwiz - Café LA Aliasing ? random shots in an HD project - 16 years agoGot FCP 5.1.4 and a 45-minute 720p24 project shot on HVX200. Already in FCP, some shots play crystal clear and some slightly aliased. Also, some shots are perfectly sharp when you pause, and some freeze in quite pixilated state. I cannot for the life of me figure out why some shots do it and some don?t. Detonation Films has oodles of kooky explosions, but little in simple flashes, and noting in HD. Ditto for sounds. Most of what I found on the net is cheesey-sounding. Same goes for foley sounds for punches, kics, etc ? all I found sounds like it?s been recorded off a $20 Casio keyboard. The 100-some (!) There are 6 presets to pick from for the camera (one must be selected) #5 is CINE V for ?shooting movie-like scenes where CONTRAST is to be emphasized? #6 is CINE D for ?shooting movie-like scenes where DYNAMIC RANGE is to be emphasized? I?ve been using 6. Thank you vwby vizwiz - Café LA Re: grainy footage - 17 years agohere's one with more light. goon It's overexposed to the point that the sky and some leaves are blown out. When you look at the machine gun, it's so grainy it looks green. HVX manual says nothing about adding grain; there are two settings - video and "film" camera.
