Thanks for your help, I appreciate it! Franby fran benton - Café LA Re: importing animation files from frame thief to fcp 4.5 - 15 years agoHi, Its 4.5, it runs quite nicely actually, except for this qwirky problem. Do you think its a codec thing? Franby fran benton - Café LA Re: importing animation files from frame thief to fcp 4.5 - 15 years agoHi again, I render everything as I go along, I am running two drives, they are 640 gig western digital 7200 rpm. I keep the media on one drive and the program on the other. I am running QT 7.5.5 The computer has an intel core 2 quad processor. I am sorry this response is so slow, I have to keep going back to ask what the specs are for the machine. Thanks, Franby fran benton - Café LA Re: importing animation files from frame thief to fcp 4.5 - 15 years agoHi, Actually the machine info is correct, let's just say its an unusual machine. I am running FCP 4.5 on a mac with 10.5.5 single processor, quad core, 8 gigs of ram, and two hard drives with lots of space . I am creating animation sequences on Frame Thief and importing them into FCP. I have been successful before on my old mac but this is a new machine to me. (I work in a different town than the one I live in) I will check all the settings you advised and see what effect changing them will make. Thanks for your help, Franby fran benton - Café LA Re: twitchy dvds - 17 years agoHi, The clips are .mov I saved the final cut project through export as a final cut pro movie. And the clips are NTSC. So a standards or scan conversion. I'm sorry I'm not sure what that is. Would that have happened when I upgraded or is this something I would have done in final cut pro? Thanks! Franby fran benton - Café LA twitchy dvds - 17 years agoHi Guys, I took everyone's great advice and did a big upgrade to my system. I just have to thank all you experts out there who guided me to some really sound decisions. I now have final cut 4 and tiger and toast8 to burn my dvds. I am just dumping the last project off final cut 3 before I move over to fcp4. My problem is that my newly burnt DVDs look fantastic on the pc oe the mac. Are you doing a lot of complicated effects that the graphics card needs upgrading? I had not thought of doing this but maybe I should. Did you have apple install all this in a new machine or did you use your existing machine. I ask this because I was thinking of getting a mini mac and loading it up with all the new stuff you suggested.by fran benton - Café LA Re: upgrade my system - 17 years agoHi, The mac is a g4 with loads of memory. I don't think I can get any more in there actually. The burner is a generic and is so slow it takes me almost 200 minutes to burn a 42 minute project. The project is moderately complex with some heavy effects and overlays but nothing unusual.by fran benton - Café LA Re: upgrade my system - 17 years agoHi, Sorry to be so late getting back to you guys. I have been using Staples DVDs which I buy in bulk. I'v tried a few other types but some don't even burn. What would be the optimum disc to buy? Thanks, Franby fran benton - Café LA upgrade my system - 17 years agoHi guys, I have a G4 running OSX with an internal burner (generic). I have an external drive, and two hard drives. I just finished some larger projects and have been battling with iDVD2 to get them burnt and off the system. I finally got a good DVD after many attempts, lotsa time, and many half burnt discs. Obviously I need to upgrade! I was going to buy iLife 6 so I could get iDVD 6. My husbandby fran benton - Café LA Re: trouble burning to DVD - 17 years agoThanks so much for the advice Jude! I occasionally think of that stronger word too but then I think of how much fun it was doing analog editing many years ago and I feel much much better! Franby fran benton - Café LA Re: trouble burning to DVD - 17 years agoThanks for your reply Jude. I have a IDVD2 ver 2.1 and I have a pioneer DVR -s201. I'v been able to burn material before with this system so its not new. I can't find the burn speed anywhere but it has been taking about 85 minutes to burn a 23 minute video. How would I upgrade my DVD burner? Do you mean just buy a new one? Franby fran benton - Café LA trouble burning to DVD - 17 years agoYou guys have been so helpful with other problems. I wonder if you can suggest a solution to this. I have a completed doc which has two versions a 23 minute and a 45 min. They need to be duplicated to be sold. What do I send to the duplicating business that gets me the best quality of DVD copies? That's the easy question. Here's my big problem . I am running FCP 3 on a G4 with OSX. I have IDby fran benton - Café LA Re: codec sequence message - 17 years agoThanks Derek, I think I had better find the problem with that sequence then as I would like the copies to be excellent quality. I was going to hand the duplication company a DVD to duplicate. What form do you like to hand material to a company to do multiple copies? As to the sequence problem, perhaps I could try unplugging all the external devices (especially that problem deck) and hopingby fran benton - Café LA Re: codec sequence message - 17 years agoThanks for your response Derek. I did use "use existing", and I added handles, I won't be doing it again that's for sure! Curiously the sequence looked just fine when I checked it after using"use existing" except for the missing audio clips. I wish I never had used the media manager at all because I was almost ready to clean the completed project off the computer. I hope you maybe have some suggestions for my current pickle. I have a 42 minute doc that is finished. I ran it through Media Manager and it cut some audio too hard. I decided I would just go back to my source tapes and recapture the audio. When I did that it came up with a codec unrecognised message. Iby fran benton - Café LA |
