It looks fine, I was just curious as which to trust, since the Broadcast Safe was supposed to be clamping the levels for me but the Range Check was still telling me I was too bright. I've heard some mixed reviews of the broadcast safe filter so I'll keep to the Range Check and Waveforms to be certain.by mrshow555 - Café LA Re: Range Check tool in FCP ?? - 15 years agoRight now I have a still video clip that has a lot of white in it, the Range Check luma has green stripes all over it with a yellow triangle and and ! symbol. I applied the broadcast safe (conservative) to it and it brought the levels below 100 on the waveform but the green stripes are still there as is the triangle. It goes away and become a green check mark after I adjust my white and mid levelby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: Range Check tool in FCP ?? - 15 years agoSo even if I'm legal between 90 and 100, Range Check will still show up with a ! warning? So I shouldn't go by it?by mrshow555 - Café LA Range Check tool in FCP ?? - 15 years agoI'm doing some quick color correction in FCP and had a question about keeping the video Broadcast safe. I turned on the Range Check for Luma and am keeping an eye on the Waveform monitors etc... Now on some of the white graphics cards, my range check reads ! with a lot of the green zebra lines even after applying the Broadcast Safe filter (conservative). My waveform shows I'm under 100, but thby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: h264 to DVNTSC - 15 years agoCool Thanks. We want to put the video as a special feature on a DVD. The h264 video is 720x480 and high quality etc.. audio is AAC 48k... What's the best way to convert it in Compressor. Should I got to DVNTSC first or go straight to MPEG-2?by mrshow555 - Café LA HD doc needing to convert VHS footage.... - 15 years agoI'm working on a doc that's shooting in 23.98 and recording the audio on a hard disk at 29.97 for conversion and syncing purposes. We'll be finishing on HD in 23.98 However we have some archive footage shot on VHS that we need to convert to 23.98 to match our mastered stuff. Any ideas on converting that stuff over? Both video and audio wise? Please helpby mrshow555 - Café LA P2 - BIG PROBLEM - NEED HELP !!! - 16 years agoWe just got our P2 footage sent to us from out camera guy from a remote shoot in Denver. Unfortunately the guy didn't do as we asked which was to copy the P2 cards to an external and send it to us. Instead he imported the files and in FCP and sent us Quicktimes. And when we asked for the original .mxf files he said he doesn't have them anymore. Well our problem is the Quicktime files are all oby mrshow555 - Café LA P2 Media Re-Import Question FCP6 - 16 years agoI have a Panasonic P2 project that was done in FCP5 back when the Import P2 imported every clip and didn't stitch together clips that were separated due to the FAT32 file size limit. So basically say take 1 was a 10min take, I have 5 clips at 2mins each (say 0001B5, 002X9, 0003F0, 0004Y3, and 005T7). Well in the new and improved FCP6, it stitches these clips together, so now I just get clip 0by mrshow555 - Café LA Stereo Pair: -1 pan? - 16 years agoWhy is it when you make a stereo pair it's Pan is defaulted to -1? It's going to be used for an online classroom video. My question is, if they give me the video with Closed Captioning on DVD, will that info tranfer over to a Quicktime file if I rip the video? Or should I jsut have them send me the video and the transcript and use the title tool to manually add them in? I'm not usedby mrshow555 - Café LA monitor calibration.... - 16 years agoI need to calibrate our monitor and just wanted to check to see if with our set up if there was anything that needed to be done differently. I'll be using the 720p60 color bars in FCP6. Our video playback settings are set to AJA Kona 720p59.94 8bit (1280x720). Our Kona 3 card is set to show us an upconverted image of 1080i29.97 (since all the others opitons are greyed out in our Kona 3 Controlby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: exporting for web - 16 years agoYou could export Quicktime movie (not conversion) and make it self contained and send that to your friend- it exports your sequence as is with no compression. Or you could encode it yourself using Flip4Mac. I generally try to stay away from .wmv but if it's what you're going for that should do the job. http://www.flip4mac.com/by mrshow555 - Café LA mixing 720p frame rates.... ? - 16 years agoI'm working on a project that was originally shot in 720p60 but they're thinking of switching to 720p30n to save on space and increase our P2 card capacity. They're wondering if the old footage and new footage will match each other. I set up a test in FCP6. One timeline with sequence settings at 720p30 and one with 720p60 and I put two clips with different frame rates in each. It looks fine toby mrshow555 - Café LA P2 Import.... "Incomplete" glitch??? - 16 years agoI'm importing footage from P2 cards and it has (Incomplete) listed next to the filename. Now usually that happens when somone runs out of space on a card and it stops recording or if the battery dies during recording. But the thing is, my two clips labeled incomplete are actually a Spanned but not "stitched together. Here was a recent question posed to me, help if you can "I want to find out from you about the Instand HD program for ?uprezzing? content that is not shot in HD? We're still trying to figure out a) why they decided to shoot P2 on this doc/reality style show and and not on tape stock. And b) why he's chosen to use 720p60 instead of 720p24n, which is claims is for the bby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: Red Giant's Instant HD - 16 years agoIs compressor good fro converting frame rates as well? We're shooting DVCPRO HD 720p60 but considering switching to DVCPRO HD 720p24n to maximize our P2 card capacity. Would we later be able to convert to 60 or even to 1080p60 or 1080p24? Has anyone used Instant HD for this, and what were your results? (our footage is natively just miniDV home videos- so to get it into progreessive, we'll probably have to use Magic Bullet in After Effects to make it progressive)by mrshow555 - Café LA Re: Final Cut glitch Q? - 16 years agoI have no idea why he thinks we'll be using EDLs. I guess he hopes they'll have a way to edit offline P2 footage and that we'll need to reconnect via an EDL. As for the card sitaution, we're not buying new cards (we have 4 total, 2 8gb and 2 16gb) we're just naming our folders on the HDDs their being dumped to as card 001, card 002 etc... so we know the order they were shot in for a given shooby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: HD Workflow: getting from 720p24 to full HDCAM - 16 years agoCan that also be done between frame rates? Because we're shooting a doc style show on P2 (which was a bad choice to begin with) but we're sorting all our raw P2 data into folders based on the shoot name, but they're all for the same show essentially. So if we shoot something in Memphis the master folder is "Memphis - 101807" and within that are the card folders labeled "Memphis - A camby mrshow555 - Café LA Re: Final Cut glitch Q? - 16 years agoGotchya!
