This saved me an hour of render time.by standard - Café LA Any way to speed up Flip4Mac? - 13 years agoI'm having one hell of a night, and apologize for being a pest. Is there any way to get flip4mac to render faster? I'm in danger of missing deadline.by standard - Café LA Hi res codec besides Animation - 13 years agoI'm importing WMVs, editing in QT, then exporting as WMV for the client. Is there another hi res QT to work in with smaller files than animation?by standard - Café LA Re: mov to wmv - 13 years agoFlip4Mac Studio Pro will do it. Be sure to restart after typing in the license though.by standard - Café LA Help! how to output from animation to WMV - 13 years agoI got the answer to the problem: Simply restart computer after typing in license: I just upgraded flip4mac thinking that it would let me output animation to WMV. That doesn't seem to be the case.by standard - Café LA 6.0.6 question - 13 years agoI am an occasional user, and notice that the audio source switches are not visible. This is the icon to the far left of the layer in the timeline, next to the audio channels button. The video button is visible, but not audio, so that I can't designate the layer that I want the clip to land in.by standard - Café LA Re: Well Wishes for Steve Jobs Sub creator of every FCP forum and Father of the greatest computers ever made. - 15 years agoIt's really great to see that I'm not the only one who appreciates Steve's genius. There is much apple bashing going on right now because he was to ill to speak at MacWorld.by standard - Café LA Edgy Type tutorial (after effects) - 15 years agoSome of you might be interested in this tutorial, since a lot of FCP editors use AE. It goes over the new Cycore Path Tools, which are good for putting distortion, and even stringing images to masks. You can download the free demo filter atby standard - Café LA Re: What to Charge? - 15 years agoIn my experience, people querying about teaching rates expect a steal. Mainly because they are clueless. Your rate is fair, and don't even think about taking it down. Teaching is intense. I paid a guru $150 an hour to help me out in 3d, and it was worth every penny and more. >I asked for $125USD/hour and haven't heard back. Alas. Of course, according to some who >replied, this would'by standard - Café LA Re: HD monitor for FCP - 15 years agoSomeone in another forum recommended the JVC as well. The price looks good!by standard - Café LA Re: Mac configuration for FCP - 15 years agoArgh, thanks. One thing the sales guy pointed out that amazed me was the Decklink Capture card for $330. I don't really need deck control, so the component capture will be fine, and it plays back from AE or FCP to monitor.by standard - Café LA Re: Mac configuration for FCP - 15 years agoI'm about to buy a set up like below. I mainly work in after effects, but miss editing, and want to try and do more FCP: Mac Pro 8-core Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon/ 2GB/ 320GB/16x Superdrive/ ATI Radeon HD 2600XT/ Bluetooth MA970LL/A 2,775.00 2,775.00 6 1024FB6400 1GB 1024MB DDR2800MHz PC2-6400 ECC for Mac Pro January 2008 100.00 600.00 1 2043BWX Samsung 2043BWX 20" Widescreen Lby standard - Café LA Re: What to Charge? - 15 years agoActually, "nesting" is the original AE term for precomposing. I took one of Trish Meyer's first courses in AE way, way back, and she used to talk about "nesting." The word threw me way off. I kept seeing her flying through the branches gathering twigs.by standard - Café LA Re: clip disappearance - 15 years agoSounds like it's time to restart and run a disk utility?by standard - Café LA Re: What to Charge? - 15 years agoNesting folks? Nesting not good in FCP? (I'm an after effects animator, and nesting is a key staple)by standard - Café LA Re: Best camera for FCPro Studio for a newbie - 15 years agoI think that the Panasonic HPX 170 is the way to go if you can afford it.by standard - Café LA Re: Mac configuration for FCP - 15 years agoSorry I wasn't clear! I know that Kona isn't a graphics card. Good to know that it's working well.by standard - Café LA Re: HD monitor for FCP - 15 years agoThanks, Shane! It's interesting how Kona has taken over from Decklink, which was the only way to go a few short years back. I have to get back in the loop.by standard - Café LA Re: What to Charge? - 15 years agoGood thing you're not in NYC, where FCP editors are overjoyed to work for food, and the mantra is "Hey, I get paid for this!"by standard - Café LA Re: Mac configuration for FCP - 15 years agoThanks for getting back. So it doesn't look like an expensive graphics card is mandatory. I've always good luck with Decklink. The place I worked at had a Kona and there were always problems. Kona tech support was superb though.by standard - Café LA HD monitor for FCP - 15 years agoWhat are you guys with home set-ups using to preview HD? I have a good SD Sony, but an HD version is probably out of the question at this point.by standard - Café LA Mac configuration for FCP - 15 years agoI'm finally going to upgrade to an Intel and hope there is a recommendation around on how to configure it for high-end FCP work. Thanks!by standard - Café LA Clueless Question on HD played on Standard TV - 16 years agoApologies for this idiotic question. I am working in 1920 x 1080. To be safe, I burned the client's DVD in DV using letterboxing. It looked fine played out on our standard TV. But in my format, will the client be viewing the mov the way the home viewer would see it on standard TV? That is (embarassment) will HD movs have letterboxing on standard TV? Because event though everything is wiby standard - Café LA Re: What is the normal Pay Scale for editors - 16 years agoWhen I started out 10 years ago, the Avid editors were making $100 an hour. I assume it's gone down like everything else in digital.by standard - Café LA Re: HD to DVD question - 16 years agoJust in case, I just letterboxed it in DV format. Not the greatest, but it'll suffice if things screw up.by standard - Café LA Re: HD to DVD question - 16 years agoAwesome, Shane! Much faster than the old tried and true. Will 16:9 play back on a standard dvd player as well as an HD player?by standard - Café LA Re: HD to DVD question - 16 years agoThanks! I have always used bitVice but haven't updated. I'll give compressor a shot.by standard - Café LA Re: Compressor fails regularly - 16 years agoBit Vice will get you better quality than Compressor.by standard - Café LA HD to DVD question - 16 years agoI have to burn a 1920 x1080 QT to DVD for playback. Should this be scaled down to 720x480 DV? If this is the case, I'm not sure how to scale it down so that square pixels look correct for d1. Should only the horizontal be aqueezed down so that the ratio is 90 x 100? Thanks!by standard - Café LA Re: where to find templates? - 16 years agoThanks, if you happen to know any names, please do pass them along. The big post houses that I know are all belly up.by standard - Café LA |
