Thanks for the quick reply.by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Exporting Individual Clips from Timeline - 8 years agoI would like to export individual clips with filters applied from a FCP7 timeline, is that possible? I'm looking for a way to export clips that have smoothcam or other filters applied to generate individual clips for stock footage. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. Thanksby Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Reducing Moire in Animated Stills - 10 years agoI threw this together for a builder I'm working with, I hadn't shot any video in the kitchen so I just used some stills. Looking at it in full res it works fine, but after encoding and uploading it as 720P the Moire is really obvious in the stills. Is there a way to prevent this? FCP7 playback is not very good, it appears to have a lot of tears on the video as though it can't keep up with the frame rate. Has anyone else experienced this? I recently loaded FCP 7 on my MacBook Pro and it just took forever so I thought I would give this a try. For the Canon L&T Plugin there's a small "gear" drop down icon in the upper right of the clip bin, this is where you can set the source codec, target codec and custom file path. Generally if a memory card is installed the plugin points at that, but if it was changby Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: Creating SD-DVD's from HD Source - 13 years agoThanks guys, that was exactly what I was searching for. GotRdone...by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Creating SD-DVD's from HD Source - 13 years agoI've been working exclusively in HD for the past three years and I'm dumbfounded how quickly I have forgotten how to do the most basic things in SD, or more specifically DVDStudeoPro . I've been creating Blu-ray rushes through "Share to" which also works great for the occasional SD-DVD, a producer just asked me for 10 SD-DVD copies. I have the MXO2, MXO2-Mini and the CompressHD card and they all work really well. I'm not sure how they compare on price but when I purchased them they were significantly less expensive than Aja. And with the MXO2 you can "calibrate" a Plasma/LCD to bars. Having said that here's an easy workflow for those shooting 30P (29.97) with the 7D. Download MPEG StreamClip from here: 1. Copy your clips from your memory card to a folder on your system. Think of these files as your camera negative, once you've created new ProRes files you can archive the cby Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: Shared storage for 3 x FCP suites - 14 years agoThere's probably a number of editors working together where the amount of money for shared storage makes sense, I'd argue that if you had three editors working full time you can't afford to NOT to have shared storage. We have seven systems accessing shared data, first if we didn't have shared data I think the amount of redundant storage would be costly, secondly, shared storage enabled us to cby Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: THE TEXT that only Big Boys can do. - 14 years agoI have not scene all of the examples you mentioned, but remember there are dedicated character generators that do amazing things. Many of the ESPN and Fox 3D logo treatments are done with Chyron character generators. I'm amazed what can be done with them and that people are still using them.by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: (OT) My Mac Pro won't shut down. - 14 years agoThanks Jeff, "sudo halt" did the trick. After I entered my password it shut down without any error messages (That I know of). I have powered it on and off several times the normal way and it is working. Thanks guys.by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: (OT) My Mac Pro won't shut down. - 14 years agoIt won't shut down, if I choose Shut Down the the Apple menu it doesn't do anything. The only applications running are Finder and Firefox. I'm sure it will shut down if I just hold the power button but I'd think that's probably not the right thing to do.by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA (OT) My Mac Pro won't shut down. - 14 years agoPhotoshop hung up yesterday, I couldn't force quite it. Now when I try shut down or restart nothing happens. I repaired permissions but that didn't help. If this were my PC this would be easy, pull the plug, knock it over and kick the crap out of it and order a new one. There its fixed. But I love my Mac is there a more humane way to help it shut down gently?by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: capture presets for HDV - 14 years agoUn-install the 1.6 driver and then install the 1.5.1 driver and all will be good. You can find the instructions for doing this on the Matrox discussion forum (follow those instruction carefully) I'm surprised that Jeff hasn't chastised you yet for mentioning HDV on this forum. I'll try the eSATA. Hopefully that will be faster. Have you burned a Blu-Ray?by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Re: Share to: - 14 years agoI did it. I have already made an AVCHD 1080P30 disc via Share that played perfectly in a Sony Blu-ray player. What I'm finding is that there seems to be about a 10 minute limit, anything longer and it pukes, though I don't know that for sure.by Chuck Spaulding - Café LA Blu-Ray - Matrox Compress HD - BDR-203 - 14 years agoAs you can see this is a three part query: I need to burn Blu-ray disk, I have had some success using Share directly from FCP to create AVCHD DVD's that work with Blu-ray players. I'd be very interested in others experiences with this. I'd also like to hear from anyone using the Matrox Compress HD card and how you burn to Blu-ray. And finally is anyone using the Pioneer BDR-203? I'm also pretty sure you can create a disk image of and HD file that can be burned to a Blu-Ray burner if you have one. I'm taking FCP at its word when it keeps giving me a Quicktime error. I had no problem burning a 6 minute project but haven't had any luck creating anything longer either. I was hoping to use these as check disks before burning real Blu-rays. I keep getting a quicktime error. Have you tried creating a disk image (exporting from) Compressor?
